I am also in the market looking for someone that can build tanks and/or do repairs. Only catches are I can't deal with Mitch/Bow Valley or someone who has a storefront. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

I love the shot of the betta, simply awsome. Almost went on my desktop, but you missed the face Almost PURE gold, but gold nontheless.

I am using this light with corals as well and it works great. Blazing bright and not a bad price, the fixture itself also looks nice. I have a few SPS that are even growing nicely under these lights.

It's all about the fins. On the males the first dorsal fin will touch or cross the beginning of the second dorsal when folded down. The females first dorsal will fall short of touching.

With sepiks, the second dorsal will also be more elongated on the males, crossing the tail as they get older.

Here's a decent shot of the male. It's pretty hard getting a good shot of these guys, still really shy. They are still quite small, 1.75" or so but in great shape and settled in nicely. I cant wait for them to grow up!! :thumbs:

sorry to leave you in suspense, but i'm not turning the lights on in the tank until tommorrow, they had a long journey.

You can never go wrong with Synos in a african cichlid tank, they have no issues with the harassment from the cichlids and do a very good job keeping the bottom clean.

I agree with Toirtis defiantely. Any mudskippers i have ever seen are ravenous and dont take much proding to eat anything small, plus they got some really good teeth for chompin'

Cherry shrimp tanks are sweet! I love mine, definately my second fav tank (only to the reef of course). It's great tossing in a few algae wafers and watching the hordes come scampering out of the plants to ravage them. After a few minutes you can only see a red ball of cherry shrimp rolling across the bottom.

You should really give rams a try. As far as dwarfs go, they are very easy to care for and great fun to watch as they do thier thing day to day. Also quite affordable and leaves you alot of other options for tank mates.

If you take an aquaclear sponge and use a razor blade to notch out a section in the middle you can make it so it fits on there nice. I would suggest using a heater, the little guys are senstive to changes in temperature and a heater will help you to avoid that, unless your house temp is pretty constant you could get away without one.

i seem to remember reading an article that over generations the color can start to vary from clear to brown to red and everything in between. Is this true, would i be able to improve the coloration of mine over time if i pick out the brown and less colored ones as feeders?

Let me build up thier population, and i am sure that i will have many to spare. Would a bn pleco eat babies?

So it finally happened, i tore down my planted tank when i moved in december and never really had the urge to set up a new one, since i've been so focused on my reef tank. But when I was over at a friend's place a month ago, seeing his planted tanks, the damn bug bit me again. So i have been working on setting up a new 90, going to be a crypt only tank, my favorite plants. I dont want to bother with fish in this tank so i decided to give cherry shrimp a try, need something to do some cleanup. I tossed in about 50 cherries 2 weeks ago. When i was doing a quick h2o change yesterday i noticed movement all over the leaves, babies! Man there is tons of them, everywhere i look more and more shrimps. Do the babies require any special care, or should i just leave them to do thier thing? There is nothing in the tank that will eat them, so competition is the only thing i need to worry about. How many can a 90gal support with or without supplemental feeding.
