No clue on a local breeder but there are a few of us trying to start up.

Personally I've got a cherry shrimp colony establish (nothing compared to Jasons skyscrappers), some sakura oranges having babies, blue pearls having babies, and *crosses fingers* super

tigers have had one drop so far. Other than that I'm also trying red rili and fire reds, though have not had any drops from either bunch.

Hi there, hope I've got the right channel for this. I'm after recommendations on which auto fish feeders members have used with success.

Specifically, battery operated is preferred, and a timer capable of 4+ daily feedings.

This will be for fry tank(s) and should accept finely crushed flake food, or crushed nls, and up to 1mm sized pellets.

One thing I've been seeing become more common is installing a thermostatically controlled plug. Basically, a waterproof thermostat I wired to control a plug or power bar; then plug your heaters into it. It basically makes it impossible for the heaters to cook your tank when they fail.

Care to toss me more info on that setup Jason, sounds like something I might want to invest in

cannot say about the Hydor Theo, but I've changed over to the little tetra heaters and they are doing fine, in 2.5G to 5G tanks no sweat. (rated for up to 15G)

I'd tried the marineland 3-5G? ones in the same setup and they overheated by 2-3 degrees. Tossed them into 10G tanks and they hold 24degrees well, so not sure what their problem is, cutoff might not be wired in to operate soon enough.

PS the tetra heaters walmart (yes I know) had on sale at the time for $10 per....couldn't pass it up.

Okay, sorry to be the bearer of bad news but the group order option is out for now. She's just informed me that in talking it over with her husband they are not comfy with the idea of shipping that much livestock in one go (seeing as they do have the live gurantee bit). Specifically, the cory's are the main concern, apparently they need more care & attention in shipping than the guppies etc.

Thus, I've agreed to do a trial run with a mix of one set of cory's and some guppies for myself. If these ship okay (the cory's) then they will have another look at possibly doing the group order bit.

In addition, since the cory's are in limited supply, payment is required to hold them, with no positive shipment date other than 'when weather permits".

I'll keep you'll posted with how things go

Shipping I'm proposing we split via number of bags ordered. Thus assuming 6 bags of cory's and 3 trios of guppies, aprrox $138/9 giving us $15.33 per bag of fish. Fair enough?

sure, both Jason and I are pretty much committed in buying some stock from them. I think the plan is to get a move on it by this week coming. We will probably have to still wait on actual shipping for when the weather clears, but want to get

the order in before the stock we are looking at are gonzo.

okay got a reply back regarding the bags for the box etc.

Yeah, 6 bags of corys and 3-4 trios amongst the spare
room should fit nicely.

Packing is more flexible with the guppies as their bags
can fit vertically or horizontally. Cory bags have to lie flat so they can
spread out a bit or they are too crowded in the small ends of the bags and are
on top of each other.

so that's for the roughly $137 shipping cost.

Talking to her now, will post details on just how many bags can fit etc. Will inquire on the green lazers, they ship 8 to a bag.

I'd double check, but pretty sure I've been told that a trio of guppies takes up the same amount of room as one bag of cories. So I believe it would be six sets of cories, or say 3 sets of cories 3 trios of guppies etc.

I'm in for one trio of guppies and a set of cory's for sure. Debating a 2nd trio.

Have at least one other than myself that's very interested so I'd say yes, it's going to happen. Just need to clear up with the supplier as to how many bags max we can get per box size etc.

maybe a crack in one of the hoses? I'd think it would have to be pretty old to do that but possible.

Okay, picked up the same unit but after the advice on this board modified it a touch. The pressed board it came with is out, in it's placed I've put in some 3/4" pressure treated ply. In addition, once assembled I found the unit is a bit shaky for my peace of mind, thus I've anchored it to the wall behind it.

I'm assuming it will settle down more firmly once loaded up. In order to get the tanks to level and not crack, I've put in 1/4" of cork, which I had leftover from when I did my basement flooring.

All ready for some tank moves now, oh the fun

Yeah, thanks SuperGuppyGirl, that's what I was leaning towards. I normall double the amount so I've never noticed an issue with water changes, but have heard of horror

stories from that.
