I. Change over 500 gals of water per week and I run it all through a whole house carbon filter,I change the carbon once a year. Remember that you will still have the ammonia left over after breaking the ammonia/chlorine bond but it's low level so it doesn't matter much

Anyone can have an effect on a stores policy by voting with your wallets, if there are enough people of a like mind the retailer will change their marketing.

like syno says, maybe try a marina holding tank and you might also try micro worms, they live a long time and wont foul the tank. Ingo Siedel says that he only has good results when the fry are bumping into the food with their noses, they starve to death if the food isnt always right there

A little late but the Dec. meeting is tonight, potluck and auction with proceeds going to charity

Was wondering if anyone knew of who was the seller of the gold rams. Their id was 272-14 on my bag of rams. Don't even know if they are part of the forum. Was wondering what they were being fed? I don't really want to change their diet too much if possible. They are very nice, but young and I want to keep them alive.
they were being fed any thing and every thing

Or you could sell it at the ACE auction. I hear that syno321 goes nuts for the stuff...
Its a fairly short trip

So I picked up a bag of duck weed last night at the ACE meeting. Lemna minor I think. Super tiny stuff. Tossed a bunch in each of my tankswhen i got home. All the lights were out at this late hour.
My thinking was it would reduce the lighting, soft smooth green lighting. Mmm. Romantic .
Awoke this morning to tanks with duck weed throughout the water column. Dang it! Blown throughout the tanks by sponge filters, what a mess.
Spent hours netting the stuff out.I haven't even started my 75 gallon planted tankI need to remember this next time I think duck weed would be cool. Pretty sure I did this a couple years ago too.....I'm a slow learner.
duckweed is easy to get rid of all you do is shut down all movement and after it all floats to the top you just take a wet vac and vacuum it all up

I'm pleased to say that the Barilius Bakeri that I got from Jayba have spawned for me.Thanks again Jay

Excellent, just before Halloween!! Are the members of ACE going to dress as their favorite fish?? Already started saving my duckweed for Syno321...
Great  So I'm guessing that you're coming dressed as the wicked witch of the south?
At least you won't have to spend a lot of money on make-up
Syno, I can lend you a broom extractor

Kudos to the good people of ACE for putting this on. Had a great time, as per usual!! Must comment on the lack of child labour laws in Edmonton though...
we have child labor laws, you have to be at least 4 to work our auctions

Does this title have anything to do with 40 days and 40 nights?
I think he's talking about something Noahish, like build me an ark

Can someone connect me with whoever is in charge of accepting donations for the auctions. I have some equipment and supplies I would like to donate and have not had a reply from the email I sent from their website.
Thanks.
You can pm me or Ray, we will look after it. Thank you, Eugene

I havent ever noticed those green lasers before at any of the auctions I have been at, I assume that they are a rare variety considering how much they went for and the fact that you paid that much twice. Hopefully you can get them to spawn and bring some to another auction to sellSGG- were you the one in the blue shirt?
Lol nope I believe that was Fishclubgirl, if they were a brunette. I was the blonde with the black hoodie, later was a dark grey/black tank. Btw I snagged 2 bags of green laser Cory's (thanks Paul) and managed to get the first bag of wood cats. Got a bag of 6-F1 gymnogeophagus , starter cutler of Walter worms, naja grass and some lovely boboltis, some wonderful neon rice fish and was give a black schultzei (thank you again for the gift, I dripped him to acclimatize him, and he is swimming happily with my 2 big mommas, I forgot your names you lovely Saskatchewan people but thank you again). Met so many amazing people and had a fabulous time thank you ACE and CAS!
How do you like the wood cats? Those rice fish were a thing that I definitely hesitated too long on, shoulda woulda coulda I guess.
I find myself wishing I had done more research on rainbow prior to this auction, being unfamiliar with them kept me from coming home with a couple types I found quite attractive, those Creeks in particular.....Oh well, maybe next time.
Those wood cats are like racehorses on speed! Once the lights are dim going a mile a minute zoom ...zoom. Lol the rice fish spawned 3 days after I added them to the tank, haven't seen any fry yet but I put a ton of moss and plants in so could be hiding. I love the green lasers corys, can't wait till they fatten and grow up then I'm picking Syno's brain for exact method he used to spawn them.
Dont pick to deep, he cant afford to lose much more

What is the banquet price? When and who do I pay it too?
The banquet tickets are $50 and you can give it to Ray or Michael, there will be some interesting things up for a silent auction at the supper including some original art from Ian Fuller of England, and of course some of the fish that the speakers are bringing with them, only people at the supper will be able to bid on them.

so wait, the spring auction next year is in feb instead? is that what Im understanding?
We will have one in Feb. and a spring auction on the May long weekend along with our show and the Caoac convention that we are hosting. The reason for the extra auction is to help defer the cost of the show
