Hello Log .... I don't even know where to start this post , sooooo .... I have been away from here for awhile.... I was keeping vigil at the Royal Alex I.C.U. .... My first husband .... father of my children and grandfather of my grandsons was in ruff shape.He has now passed on. I am surprised at how very much this has effected me. I spend day and night with him through this sad time. I shocked myself as I held his hand as he took his last breath. I never would of thought I would be the one careing for him at the end, but there I was {I never thought I would be this kind and had this deep forgiveness within me}.I watched him and my kids and it just broke my heart seeing all the pain ....his was physical and ours was emotional.... I don't know wich is the hardest to go through. I found out so much about myself but wishing I could have learned it all in a differant place than a deathbed. I am not feeling well right now so Im going to possably be away from here for a wee bit longer { heaven only knows}. I feel like an elaphant is sitting on my chest.... I'm not very good with loss ..... I am selfish enuff to preffer others not leaving me {so damn selfish}. I had known him since I was 17 .... a lifetime of knowing him .... "Go With God My Friend"

Well here we go again .... Some days are full of Lemonade and others are simply full of Lemons ... such is life... I simply remember that lemonade is right around the corner. I have Breeding cichlids .... Brevis Shellies at least 2 pairs and around 15 kids of all sizes .......Black Shellies a pair ..... Fairy cichlids at least 2 breeding pairs and 40 kids of all sizes ......Julies at least 2 breeding pairs and their kids ...... Long skirt Tetras aroud 4 ....... Platys {10} ...... Golden and striped Danios lots .......... Cory Doras ..... lots all differant kinds.... 1 pair Buffalo Heads .... All the fish come from Harold .... I got my 180 up and running finally! Id like to thank a few members for their help. Ray at Sourcequatics for being so patient with me and all his help with my timeframe changing(Great tank Ray I cant find any imperfections).Also the ppl at Bow valley aquariums(Mitch,Audrey).Shaune for the layaway fx5 that i needed to add to my filtration.ANd when I finally have the money Doc Polit for his 3d background. I cant forget Harold as most of my favorite fish I purchased off him.All fish are either Harolds, SJ's or Daves. Thanks everyone without your help I would still have a boring 90 gallon haha jk.

Yes I know all these fish arent from Lake Tang but I have a hard time giving up fish that I am attched too! And I wanted them to stretch their fins in the 6 footer.

I will also be adding more plecos, petris, possibly some black calvus.

Filters: Fx5, Fluval 405, sponge powerhead combo. Upgrading the filtration like everybody when I get more money!

I will post pics when i get Doc Polits 3D background. Any tips about larger tanks would be appreciated, ie wc's and maintenance ideas.

Hi .... Im not sure how to tell genders 4 sure. My male is wayyyyy bigger that I do know. How large is your pair ? ... I have lots of them and lots of differant sizes ..... if you need a few more of any size just let me know and Ill see what I have ...... you will love it when they start pairing off and haveing babies ..... everyone takes care of the babies ....

My GF goes to innasfail farmers market every thursday and she finally convinced me to get her a center piece for her future planted tank. the guys who makes these pieces madea couple custom ones that we got to choose from.. ill post a few pics she took today at market.

all of these pieces are covered in a lacquer but he will recreate or make a custom piece without that lacquer. the lacquer is to protect them outdoors in gradens (which is what they are meant for)

I picked up 4 used 20 gallon tanks for $15 each from Natures Corner and needed a cheap solution for a stand. After some calculaltions I figured I would need:

3pc 2"x3" 8' long

6pc 1"x4" 10' long

Cost: $31

Here it is finished but not yet painted. Very sturdy, and even looks pretty good.

Tanks have been cleaned and re-lined

Painted with 2 coats primer/sealer

The final test of both stand and the re-lined tanks. 100% approved!

Bobby and whitney finally gave me some kids. I have been too busy too spend alot of time watching all my shellie tanks because of my new baby. I gave all my fish a frozen treat tonight. When i noticed a dozen or so fry outside the dominant females shell. The dominant male has been extra black the last two weeks or so, and the submissive male has been extra white to keep himself alive. Im guessing the fry are 15 to 20 days old, i should of seen them earlier but i have half black half white sand in that tank so they sorta are invisble untill they move.

Hello from Beaumont. I am a 30 yr old married mom of soon to be 3. Unfortunately hubby does not share my joy of fishkeeping. I however have loved fish keeping since I was small and always remember the 100 Gallon community tank my father had in the house.

I currently have a 35 Gallon community tank containing a mixture of fishies. I plan to revamp this tank completely soon. A little unsure of which direction I wish to go with it though.

I also have a 5 Gallon fry tank that has an even smaller 1 gallon? fry tank for the little bitty babies that just hangs on the interior of the 5 gallon. The main 5 Gallon is full of 15 baby Fancy Guppies, that are basically ready to go ( got some really pretty ones this time around too) and the 1 Gallon has about 35 brand new guppy fry.

Then there is my pride and joy tank, a 60 Gallon Tank right now it contains 4 different Cichlids 3 of which are African 1 of which is American (whom I'm trying to sell/give away) he is a terror in the tank. I purchased this tank about 2 weeks ago from a neighbour just up the road from me and i'll be honest it has been a labour of love to get the tank conditions back to where they should be. It came with 3 cichlids, one being the American and due to the poorness of maintenance on the tank I lost the Yellow Lab that also came with it. I think poor water conditions and the shock of the move finally did him in. Poor lil guy. Anyhow, the tank, after many many hours of cleaning and some proper water changes over this 2 week period is up to tip top shape again and the fish in it are quite happy. A fellow fish lover actually brought my attention to this site and he actually gave me two of his fish to help get me started in the world of cichlids.

I "inherited" a dwarf frog from a neighbour who came with some white clouds and I think I put a betta in there too. Everyone seemed to get along well and Ribit was tons of fun to watch.

He is definetly a happy baby ...Please let me know what he is so I can read up on him lol I know Im more than slow learning but I am enjoying this learning curve I am on Thanks ....Linda....

another question to throw in on pots. where are the cheapest terra cotta pots?

Hi .... I was wondering if anyone knows where I can get some of those little flower pots the aquarium stores sell some of there plants in ? I need something that is fish safe please ? what is best substrate 2 use in the little flower pots as subtrate that won't harm fish as well ? I am new to plants and would apreciate any help available. I want to get these plants off to as good a start as possable.... and they will need it ....My plants are very scared here .... as soon as they saw who brought them home from the auction ....they started to cry :cry: poor little plants lol ....Linda...

I am a new member as of last night. I went to the auction yesterday after finding the ACE site through google. Very surprised at the amount of people and the amount of "stuff" changing hands. I live on the westside of Henday in Parkland and have had acquariums for most of my life, but a few years ago a neighbour got me started into Africans. This is more fun now that I have a 90 gal. to go with my 45 gal. Met some people at the auction too. Nice to see that there is a place to get advice and input to make enhance this hobby. So, hello .......
