  1. I've tested Seachem's Stability's claim as has another on this site that says it'll cycle a tank in a week and by golly it works so get some and it might just get the tank ready in a very short time. Here is a link for you if you want some really good info especially since you are new. I wish i knew of this site and this forum when i first started so you are ahead of the game allready.

Good luck and i hope you enjoy your new betta.

    Hi,

I'm not really sure what the current level since I don't do the cycle myself. A friend of mine is doing the cycle for me..and the last time I heard is the nitrite level has dropped..it's lighter now. I'm hoping it'll be done soon.

  3. Hi,

I've this silly question about moss balls.

    - how do I take care them? what kind of food I should give?

    - how do I know if the moss still alive or not?

    - can I just use tap water?

thank you for answering my questions.

  4. Hi,

I can't get the image of red gravel or red sand out of my mind. I don't know though if it's safe for my betta...but wonder how it looks like.

Have anyone seen this somewhere? Also, if you have any picture or links that showcase the red gravel/sand for aquarium, please let me know. I would like to check it out.

    Thanks.

  5. Thank you for the responds smile.gif

@timbruun : as far as I know, my friend is using the bio media from his tank. But I'm not sure what's going & why the tank is still not ready. What I heard from him is the filter may not have enough bacteria..does this make sense?

@strayner : thank you for the explaination. Yeah..waiting is really pain. Is there any method to cycle the tank that quick enough but safe for fish?

  6. Hi,

A friend of mine is nice enough to give me hand to cycle my new 6 gallon tank. He is using fishless cycled method and has been doing this for about 3-4 weeks now.

Why does it take so long to cycle the tank?

Can I stop the cycle and use it right away for the fish? I am new to this, so any info or advice would be appreciated.

    thanks.

  7. Knock..knock, hello..

I'm a new comer to this forum. A friend of mine suggested me to join this forum because I think he gets tired answering my questions :).

I am currently has a long distance relationship with fish particularly betta. I said this long distance relationship because I develop a 'connection' to fish through pictures, videos & friend's stories.

Eventually I'll have a tank with nice colorful fish on my own :).

As a start ..I'll have a fluval edge (size probably between 1 - 2 gallon). The problem is...I don't know how to set up a tank & to take care of it.

Could someone tell me or give me a good information about:

    - how to set up a small tank

    - how to clean it & change the water

    - what type of fish I should put with betta

    - plants

    - decoration (ie. any suggestion what i should use without being too crowded?)

By the way..I use soft water at home. Will this be a problem to fish? Any advice what I should do? I really want to have the fish asap...but I also want to make sure that I can set up a healthy environment for my fish :)

    Thank you for your help.
