Try some of your Hydroponics Stores there .
As they sell 100 and 200 gal,per hour RO units in (Northern Lights Indoor Gardening) here in Grande Prairie @ less then $300 for the 100 gph one .Or check out Culign , but they are quite pricey

Google >>Panacur it contains >(fenbendazole) .I use this for planaria and anouther creature that i can,t remember the name of but i watched it eat one of my baby shrimps.
there are a lot of discussions as to the dosage but i found that .01 or 1/10th of a gram per 10 gal did the job for me , with No shrimp loss. I understand that Some snails may
die from it but i had no loss what so ever . Please do some reading about the use of it (Panacur) . I got a 4.5 gram pack from my Vet. for $9. cheaper than the pet store stuff.
Good Luck

Did you have the willow branches in there long? IF I remember correctly you can soak most willow
branches to create a Pain killer type of medicine so that could be to strong for the new shrimp .
Just an idea pull the willow cuttings and find the toxicity on your plant cutting .As you may already know
some house plants can be very toxic. Just saying LOL

Hi all ,
I have no useful info. to add about these , but I did score one from PetLand here in GP for $18. last Saturday . They have 50% of any of there fish and plant stock
that sell for $10 or less , but I talked um into selling this cool L010a Red lizard whip tail for 50% off there $36 price AS I did sell them 20 4" KOI For cheap $3. Store credit :^0
They are now selling @ $13-$15 .I should have tried to sell privately LOL oh well next year.
Any way I love this little L010a Red lizard whip tail have him in a heavily Planted 60 gal. tank and he seems to love it . Tough to find him in there at times but is cleaning the plant leave always :^)

The pond's roughly 1400 gal (see my build thread-My Backyard pond/Waterfall Build). There's no way I'm draining it and scrubbing it. Everything in terms of cycling will have to start over from square 1. Green water and algae is to be expected but will clear eventually. Thanks for the reply, I'll keep dredging the bottom and sides with my net.
I do agree 100% . I can only Dream of a pond @1400 and my koi would Love that kind of room
Try not to ware out the net LOL

Just wondering what everyone does in terms of spring maintenance to their ponds. I'm referring to the members who keep water in their ponds year round. All my fish survived the winter in the pond but my algae is getting a bit out of control. I've been scraping the sides and botton with my net, but I'm debating on renting a pond vac. How well do these work?
Personally I feel that the algae on the sides or bottom of the ponds is a good thing , Using up waste that other wise may become
A problem for your fish .I now it don't look perdy but if you keep koi or goldfish you know it's hard to keep plants with them ,
cause they like to eat the plants. String algae not fun , I would remove same as free floating algae ,but that is for myself so
I can See the fish. The fish don't care if there water is green with algae.
As for the pond vac well I don't think it will help the algae thing but it's good for getting the muck and gunk out of the bottom.
How big is your pond? it may be better to drain it then Shopvac it out then scrub your algae out with bleach and water solution-(Danger)
But like I said wall and floor algae in a pond is a GOOD thing in my Books .
Hope this helps some .

Where do these hydra come from? I've been on the lookout for them ever since I saw a planaria in my tank, thinking, oh no, I'm probably infested with everything now, lol!
My hydra came in on plants from a LPS

Just wondering if these snakeheads you keep talkin about could survive here ? I doubt it ,but I just don't know.
By the way I know that the fishing regs that comes with an Alberta fishing permit mentions something about catching
minnows for bate specie doesn't matter ,but they Must be Dead to be transported or used as bate . <(not exact words)
Someone mentioned stickleback , I believe stickleback would just be another food source for the inhabitants
of that lake they are very small 1.5-2" long max , but -- maybe they eat up all the small bugs so there is nothing
for native minnows (doubt it though) . Stickleback are found in most waters here in the peace area anyway.
But I Could be Wrong.

Gona start a new pond up there ? Must have been hard to leave that beautiful pond and your koi behind hopping your renters would take care of them properly ....
