  1. and you gotta have balls! marimo that is, lol.

    LOL too funny!

I would suggest some cryptocorynes, java ferns, mosses, anubias and some swords(particularly echinodorus quadricostatus)these are all fairly easy slow growing low maintenance plants that should do well in most any setup. Oh ya Water sprite too! In my very first planted tank I had a couple swords, cryptocoryne wendtii's, java moss and water sprite in a low light no CO2 setup.

  2. Wow that is quite a scary thought. I dip my hands in my aquarium several times a week. Or at least using the metal tweezers which I am sure are a great conductor of electricity.

Care to share instructions how to ground a tank using the GFCI? I have no clue how to go about this.

  3. Oh man that is like my dream tank. Angels plus I would put a large school of Cardinal Tetras like 50+, a medium school of Rummy Nose Tetras and a decent sized school of corydoras. I'm not sure if Amanos are fish food for Angels but a bunch of Amano shrimp would be great to keep the tank nice and clean.

  4. I'm a little late on my Sunday update. I have been going to bed really early so it's hard for me to get good dark room pictures with no glare at all, but I took some last night. For some reason the Rotala has been growing all twisty instead of straight up. I noticed one of my Amano shrimp has half of a leg missing. YIKES! Not sure why. On a good note the Diplis diandra has quadrupled in size, but I lost about half of the planted stalks because they failed to root and the emersed portion simply melted away. Here are some pics:

  5. Haha if it turns out lookin how it does when I squint then I will be disappointed! :P

I am now thinking of real dwarf hairgrass as a carpet instead of UG. Either that or religiously trimmed hairgrass.

Here is a shot of what it looks like under the light. I might not use a background, i only had it in the previous photo because I had tanks behind it. I still haven't got around to planting it because I am spending yesterday and today going on a search for more driftwood to find the perfect peice. I kind of feel like the one on the left is too big and thick. It seems to draw the attention. I dunno though maybe it's just me.

  6. WOW! I'd have to say this is the most awesome fluval edge I have ever seen! I have been interested in SW for quite some time but this is really really making me want to take the plunge. I am a big fan of small tanks cuz I'm in a small apartment so this is very fascinating to me. It must be really exciting to search for all the little critters and try to identify them. Great job with all the mods!

And I love the purple fire fish!

  7. The hairgrass might get tall enough. I guess might not go with the 'dwarf' hairgrass but a taller variety. Blake gave me some that is definitely tall enough but unfortunately it perished because I didn't have a good place to keep it.

  8. I'm ULTRA BORED right now as you can see and decided to show off my iNsAnE gRAPhiC sK1LLZ! LOL

Here is kind of what I want it to look like. The light green is the UG carpet, the dark green is fissidens, moss tied to rocks around the base of the wood and DHG for the background.

  9. It is very nice to have less equipment visible in the tank. Is it possible to use more then one ETH in the same line? Or maybe even 1 or 2 on the inlet and 1 or 2 on the outlet? How about the possibility of a sump on the 450g?

  10. I really wanted to do an Iwagumi type layout but I have rocks in my 20g so I wanted to use wood in this one. I just love the contrast of the color of wood to the different greens of all the plants. I know what you mean though a couple of the smaller rocks in my 20g are disappearing into the plants.

  11. That is a good point jvision. Some of the hardscape will disappear into the plants lol. I am going to try my hardest not to completely cover the wood but I will be using some moss and fissidens along with UG and DHG. So far that is all I really plan but that is easily subject to change. :)
