sorry but i am going to jump in on this discussion. i am going to build my own spray bar and would like to hard pipe my fx5, but do you just use regular pvc cement when you glue the pvc pipe together, or is there something special i need to us in order to not contaminate my water?

I have a new batch of jewel fry that have been free swimmers for about 10 days now. Is my best chance for survival to remove the parents and leave the fry in the breeding tank?

Last time i went to Big Als, I asked the guy if I could buy some bags and he gave me 10 no charge! I love those guys as far as LFS go!

so my wife really wants a spotted puffer. we got one along time ago for our community tank and not long after he was in there he pretty much had an all you can eat buffet with my fish. I am setting up a 95 gal cichlid tank, can a puffer go into this set up, if not what type of set up will allow for a puffer?

I have a 95 Gal bow front that I want to use as a cichlid home. I have a SIL substrate down, and the aquarium came with a Fluval FX5 cannister that I now have up and running. Is the fluval the only fitration I need, or do I need to add somthing like an aqua clear? I have a air curtain also running in the tank.

I have a used 90 gallon tank I am cleaning up and getting ready to start up. It has some white stains around the top of the tank that I can't get off. I have tried hot water and vinegar, but that doesn't seem to do a thing. Anyone know a good safe way to clean this stain off?

Thanks. I live in Balzac which means Calgary is closer. Just called a place called Target Supplies and they have SIL 9, going to go get some right away. Thanks for all the help.

Thanks to everyone. Dovii, I went to SIL's web site but couldn't find SIL #9 gravel. I see silica sand SIL#8, is this what you are using, or is there someting else that I just cant find. Is it sold under the filtration? any help would be appreciated.

I currently own a 50 gal community tank and just bought a 90 gal used from a friend, and it needs lots of work, so I have been posting a few questions to help me out. I am starting up a new 90 gal aquarium I just got off a guy from Kiji. I am going to have it as a community tank but am hoping so save a few dollars where I can. Is there any inexpensive ways to put gravel or a substrate into an aquarium. The gravel at any of the big stores is expensive, especially with the size of tank I just picked up. Someone at work suggested chicken scratch (gravel you can pick up at UFA?) would really appreciate any feed back. The aquarium came with a fluval fx5 canister filter, incase that makes a difference.

Hello to everyone. I am new to this site and see there is an abundance of advise and information to help me out. I just got a great deal on a new 95 gal bowfront aquarium and it came with a Fluval FX5 canister filter. I own a 50 gal. already but only have an undergravel system with a aqua clear filter, so the canister is very new to me. There are three baskets that each have a foam outer layer but I am not sure how or what to put on each layer. I want to set the aquarium up as a community tank, with lots of different fish. If anyone can help me with how to set up this filter, that would be great.
