So i am heading out of town for almost 2 weeks and am wondering what to do about feeding my shrimp? has one tried leaving a food block in? like the ones for fish? any help would be great
-
I just switched tanks and same thing, I have found about 7-8 dark colored shrimp. Have to wait
For them to get bigger to see what they are
-
I think fishgalore is talking about little water bugs that are very small and look like white specks on the glass. I got them a couple times by doing regular water changes. Just do a few good sized water changes and then keep up with regular ones and they should go away. At least that's how I got rid of mine
-
I have tried rocks but will try and find some smaller ones in the sand
-
Not really lol just trying to find somehow to keep them down
-
Ok so I am having "issues" with my places and yoyo's playing in my sand and up rooting my plants. I am wondering where is a good place to get root tabs an will they help?
-
So I was feeding my shrimp and I found 2 baby yellows!! Plus one female with eggs. Guess I was lucky and did end up saving those 2 I found doing a water change

Hmmm will remember that glue works then next time instead of trying to tie it
-
Just a quick question here as I am new to planted tanks but I don't think your to glue plants or moss to anything. I just used thread and will leave it till it starts to grow around it.
-
I hope so lol it the first thing of mine to breed
-
I am not sure what they are as I have a few cherry, a few yellows and a few Amano shrimp. But I found 2 babies today, sadly as I was redoing my tank :-( but I was able to catch them so lets hope. But it's a great sign I have babies.

What kinda shrimp???

I wasn't sure how it was going tO be as it was my first one. But I ended up getting what I went for, six very nice yellow shrimp with one female berried. Java moss, star grass, trumpet snails and driftwood. I thought I saw you there jvision

Went in as well and they were nice. I found their prices to be a lot better then big al's also they actually know what they are talkin about there. I told the one guy that his plants were great looking, heathly, lush and he replied yup I have c02 running so they enjoy it. So going back there plus it's closer then big al's lol

Ya it was just cheap glass and not thick enough. So 4-5 mm huh? Will have to check then
-
See thing is the lights are about 4-5 inches off the glass and I don't know how to cut glass but will go check it out

So i am wondering where in edmonton is the best place to get a smaller size piece of glass that can handle the heat of 2 T5HO bulbs? I had gotten a piece from a lfs and it wasnt good enough to handle the heat, as i found part inside the tank today. So now on the hunt again. please let me know

Well I already have the two normal plecos. Tho the one I got with the ten gallon has been the same size for the last 2 yrs she said so maybe I will put him in the 36 and keep the bigger one in the 50 for now
-
so after we move in to our new place i am setting this tank back up, as i have moved everyone to a 50 gallon now. Here is what I am thinking in the 36 gallon:
9 neon tetras
5 black tetras
1 female gourami dwarf
1 powder blue male gourami
2m/2 female platys
3 swordtails 2f/1m
regular old pleco
lots of live plants, a few moss balls, fake driftwood, few rocks made in to caves, a couple mystery snails, ghost shrimp, and maybe a few other shrimp
any tips or ideas would be great

hmmm i am not sure now if i want to keep different types together. mind you they would only be for myself, another quick question then, i have a topfin 2.5 hex tank, can i have shrimp in there with a under gravel filter and no heater but with the light on to keep the water warm, as i know they tend to like water in mid 70's
-
I see lots of people on here have more then one type of shrimp in a tank at once. Just wondering if they cross breed or not? I want to get other types but don't want them to cross breed.
-
Yup I can meet you there no problem. Thanks. Ya I re-did the tank today and cut back on the two plants that one got tangled in.
-
I don't know if you remember but I got two black looks like veil tail angels off jvision you had sold him. Wondering if I could get one more around toonie size? As I woke up to find one had got tangled up in a plant and died.
