  1. Back to the original post.

    IMO the Cichlasoma Urophthalmus look more like Amphilophus Hogaboomorum (Red Devil Complex).

    Does anyone else think this?

    Either way they are beauties!!

    Here are some Hoga pic's;

  2. I have two of these, each in a 1,000 gallon system. BEST filters I've ever had.

    The big advantage is the backwash.

    You never have to get your hands wet or manually wash media.

    I have had mine about 7 years now with no problems.

    A little bit of plumbing for years of easy maintenance.

    Def worth it!!!!!

    I have a massive bioload with 10 fish at 12 inches each in each tank plus many smaller fishes.

    I went with advantage plus (from "Sacramento Koi", very good people to deal with)because it has a see thru lid and you can see how clean the beads get after a water change.

  3. Thanks but I'm looking for fry to put with my festae and ornatum growouts

    Where did you score your Ornatums from ? It took me a long time to find the ones I got.

    I got them from the states, I realize now that these are much more aggressive than their festae cousins, I now ended up with two males and one female pushing 6 inches, they kill each other until only a pair is left. Festea's attack in spurts but these guys are different.

    I have a male (Ornantum in a 750 gallon tank and he kept fighting a male Parachromis Motaguense (same size), you would think the tank would be big enough to avoid fighting, well I know what damage a male Mota can do so I pulled out the mota.
