  1. My neighbor has a tall 40 gallon tank with 12-15 rummynose tetras, a couple small rams(Bolivian)I think. And 2 small plecos. She asked if she should add one angelfish, and I said I didn't know anything about them. She filters a little under double(I think 2 aquaclear 30 filters),and regular water changes, I diddent look at her tempature, she has a couple live plants, and I don't think she does anything special besides decloanate the water and put it in the tank. also she read somewhere that you should only have about 1/4inches of substrate,is that true? I use peat in my filter and my rams/tetras are really healthy and happy should I suggest this? Or will lowering the ph and hardness be bad for the angel? I don't know a thing about angels so any help would be appreciated. Thanks
  2. Wow that sound like a really nice setup, welcome to Alberta aquatica

    Hello

Welcome to Alberta aquatica, sounds like a nice tank you have going. If you have any questions everyone will be really helpful. Goodluck Steve
  4. Welcome, I wish I could have 9 tanks lol. Have fun
  5. Ok well when it gets out of hand I my have to consider throwing out some eggs, but for now I'm going to let them breed, any hobbiest that comes to spruce grove can have some snails free, and I will also try to sell off extras to paradise pets or aquarium allusions or something.
  6. Omg they laid another 100 eggs from the looks of it, double the last bunch for sure They must really love that snail jello
  7. I'll post in a week or whenever the babies hatch.
  8. Ok I'm looking up snail jello, I have these snails in with shrimp and MTS so I feed algae wafers, hikiari carnivore pellets, zucchini, cucumber, spinach, sometimes small amount of flake food,or sinking cichlid pellets, also green seaweed. My little 15 gallon tank has a good amount of plants and none have been touched by snails yet.fingers crossed The shell is really red, but I guess in some spots it looks purple Also not the best camera and I suck at taking photos.
  9. heres one of the 2 snails.
  10. Well I don't really have a major algae issue. I put about 15-20 pounds of driftwood in the tank and there is a good amount of fuzz/hair algae on my Mopani wood. I keep my lights on for 7 and a half hours/ Lots of cover and hiding places I'm concidering adding a couple more zebra nertle snails. I put my new filter on today now I'm running aquaclear 70, and 110 on my 75 gal
  11. Well I just borrowed my friends camera I'll post picture in 1 hour, it looks jus. Like that picture you posted but a it has albino shite skin and a red shell
  12. Ok thanks for all of the help everyone, I'm going to add a couple zebra nettle snails, and 2 of each tetra,as well as another l046 zebra pleco. The new filter will be on by noon tomorrow. As for the 3 german blue rams will they will be alright with my little cardinal tetras?,I have seen GBR with rummynose tetras as well with glolight tetras. I don't want to get any cardinals killed.
  13. I'm going to add a aquaclear 70 filter to this tank(so I will have 70 plus 110 filters) ok well I'm going to add a couple tetras and think about adding my german blue rams. Yes it is a L046 zebra also have another one on the way. I was considering getting a couple mollies because I have alot of hair algae(but I have decided they won't do well in my high temptank)
  14. I'll Post a picture, I do not think I have the right name. It was sold to me as albino snail from aquarium designs unlimited here in Edmonton
  15. hey, my albino redshelled mystery snails laid 50 or more eggs above the waterline in my 15 gal Any suggestions? Do they need to be wet? Should I splash the eggs?or just Leave them alone?
  16. Ok well I would like to lower the tempature a little bit but my zebra loves it at 80, Ok so to hot for mollies, and they will eat eggs(not a problem, this isn't a breeding tank) Thanks for the filter tips I'm adding another aquaclear70 soon Anyone got experience wih zebra plecos, I will slowly lower temp if they will handle it at 76-78 O and yes they are zebra nertle snails so hey won't hatch unless there in sw
  17. Hey,I have had my 75 gallon tank set up for 9 months. The temp is at 80, with fake black gravel, using aquaclear 110filter(waterfall),lots of driftwood(Mopani, mayalasian)and a couple java ferns and some fake plants. I have. 1 zebra pleco(another coming in on the 23rd) I'm thinking of adding 2 More of each tetra(good idea?) 7 glolight tetras 7 rummynose tetras 8 cardinal tetras Thinking of putting my 2 female and one male german blue ram in(is this a good idea?) And I want to and some damnation mollys(will they handle this heat?) I also have 6 zebra snails lol(lucky me I don't have a million in this tank) Would this be a good community tank? Alot of noob questions I know, but I did alot of research before posting and found alot of conflicting info about mollys,so need some help from successful owners
  18. Plant looks great with the new light, good luck with it
  19. Before you run to the store wait for someone elses opinion too. Your tank doesn't look overstocked or anything, I would say adding a couple more couldent hurt but I don't want to give you bad advice
  20. The only thing I can think of is that it is lonely/stressed and just picking on everything that doesn't look like it IMO. tetras should be kept in groups, they are schooling fish. You mentioned you only have one left in your tank
  21. Are we allowed to down talk companies? I diddent think we were
  22. I have seen albino, and I though I have heard of more types
  23. Plecos Will die in brackish water but I think freshwater salt is fine
  24. Oh crap I was really tired when I said Cory cats, I ment to say ottos sorry about the mix up
  25. The most humane way to get rid of snails is how avianaquatics said, but this process can take a long time, and some snails can lay eggs in bogwood that will stay dormant for months In my experiences I have found that mardel brand ich, velvet, ect treatment will kill any snails and shrimp in your tank(just not humane) Just watchout mardel is not good for scaleless fish. One of the main ingredients in mardel is copper something, when I was really new to the hobbie I dosed my tank and killed all of my snails(mystery, nertle, and rabbit)I never had any MTS at the time but I believe they would react the same way. I also lost 11 ghost shrimp from the mistake.
