  1. You can always also plant the plants in clay pots if its a bigger tank to stop them from being dub up. Take clay pot, put in about 2/3 of the way with your choice of substrate then fill the rest with large heavier pebbles from ikea or somewhere else (ikea is 2$ for a huge bag) and then bury within your rock formation/substrate/etc until the clay pot isnt visible. Make sure to not only root your plant at the bottom but get them stem at least an inch into the substrate layer of the pot if you can so even if they go smacking into the stem it shouldnt rip it up

  2. Also can bleach dip 1:19 bleach:water ratio, about 15 seconds with the leaves submerged (dont put the rhizome in it) then just give it a nice rinse for a minute or two in a bowl under the tap and throw it into a dark corner of the tank or a bucket of water out of light

  3. I find that my shrimps enjoy them in the tank. With that being said, they destroyed all of them.

Strange, I have mine in my shrimp tank with 100+ shrimps and they are constantly grazing on them with no discernible negative effects. Also have one in my high tech EI dosed super high light display tank and they don't really change much there either. They're not really even a plant per se, they're just a huge clump of cladophora algae that grows as a ball. Little fleck can break off and start growing on substrate and hardscape and be kind of annoying

  4. I've been hounding the internet for quite a while looking for somewhere to ship aquasoil to edmonton here. I figure if I find a place, even though shipping will be pretty steep, there's im sure lots of people who would want to order it and shipping a larger amount wouldn't be too bad if we did a group order but I can't find anywhere to ship it here... I know somewhere in vancouver sells it but I'm not sure where and don't know if they'd ship it to edmonton

  5. Filter floss is a must. Take a 40% off coupon to michaels and buy the polyfil bag it's 8$ normally so itll run you about 5$. I usually keep at least 3" of semi-packed polyfil in my eheim 2217 at all times right before the output hose. Every month or so (less if I did a lot of fussing about that month) I take the bottom half and throw it away cause it's the most dirty and then add in new stuff for the top half. Massive change for barely no money.

  6. I threw a UV sterilizer in my tank cause the water was kinda... murky-ish even after running about 5" of filter floss. Within 36 hours you couldn't even tell there was water in the tank

  7. The buffering ability of the fluval substrate will be gone after about 2 months but ADA will last until its life in your tank is done. Planting HC in fluval stratum is frickin frustrating I'm just finally starting to get it to hold on my tank and I had to pour a bunch of eco on top of the stratum to help keep it down

  8. IV pump?!?! Wow haha that's quite involved :P Do you have a separate one for trace? I thought trace and N/P/K shouldn't be mixed together in one solution.

Looks like it'll go well. I'd break up the big HC clumps into 2-4 plantlet chunks and plant those I usually get at least double the spreading speed that way
