  1. got my tank from a guy on canreef, It is an exchange program with Oxypro Calgary (there is a branch in Edmonton) you just pay a deposit and each time you need to fill your tank, you hand yours in and they exchange for a full one, You just pay for the co2. I dont know how much the deposit is as i got a 3/4 full tank from someone. but he said about 30-45 to exchange for a full one.

  2. I think i just about have one found probably done deal by tomorrow, I well let you know the details if it goes through

I'm also in the market for a CO2 tank. Did you happen to find anything? I've been calling around Edmonton like crazy and haven't found much yet. Oxygen Products has branches in Edmonton and Calgary, but they want $130 for a 5lb bottle. I read online that I can find them for as cheap as $40 but so far, no luck.

I've also read that fire extinguisher shops may be a place to look as well.

  3. Ok so i plan on buying the 48 diy kit on rapid led. The one question i have is what optics should i get? my tank is 48"X18" so i plan on running 4 rows of 12 and the LEDs well be 5-7 inch above the water surface, this well put each LEDs about 4" apart. Is this too far apart to be using 60 degree optics (spotlight effect). I was thinking on using 80 degree. what do you guys think

  4. So i bought 80lbs of sand and am wondering how i should place it into my tank. I have 60 lbs of aragonite sand (base sand) and 20 lbs of aragonite "live" sand. When i place it in my tank should i just mix it and add, place live sand on bottom or place live sand on top?

  5. I am setting up a 70G reef tank and trying to figure-out what lighting setup to use. Just wondering if anyone uses LED lighting? I know the price is pretty high but just thought id see what someone who uses LEDs has to say. So far the only negative i can find is the price.

I just look at it like, with MH lighting its pretty much a guarantee you have to spend extra on a chiller anyways. Any opinions?

  6. Hello,

I am in the beginning stages of setting up my first saltwater tank. It is going to be a 75G tank and i have a few questions..

First, i am planning on using a sump and am thinking about making is myself. I'm not sure what size exactly i am going to use but i think around 50G glass tank and do a sump/refugium. if i make it myself what should i use for baffles, glass, acrylic or dose it even make a difference?

Second, I was wondering what all you use for salt? Any you would not recommend? and is it all right to buy lower quality salt to start the tank and then switch over to high quality salt once the tank has cycled?

I think that is it for now but i have a feeling a few more questions well arise, lol
