  1. will the new hose fit properly onto the existing fluval shut off valve/ hose fitting? or will I have to adapt something onto that?
  2. hmmm just found out that I will need new hoses for my fluval canister to make the hydor inline filter work, since the fluval hoses are ribbed, so if I changed out my hoses, then I will have to change out my fittings.....might have to stick to a submersible one..
  3. perfect that's good to know thanks Jason!
  4. Oh a question about the hydor inline fitlers to ppl who used them. I have 2 canister filters, will I be good with running one heater, or will I have to buy one for each canister?
  5. i might eventually get a efluval and try that out maybe even the hydor inline one. just that they both are pricey. but if it impacts the health of my fishes than Its a no brainer to spend that money. thanks for everyone's help!
  6. Actually my heater is a Rena cal brand
  7. Yeah I was looking at one of those, AC is suppose to be getting some of those in soon, for about 80 bucks
  8. im pretty sure the heater I have is a fluval one, but i bought it used...
  9. Hey everyone Wondering if anyone can help me out, I currently have a 200 watt heater in my 55 gal , which should be sufficient. Last night my thermometer was reading about 80 F, and the heater was still kicking on, the setting on my heater, is nowhere near 80 F, I did kick it down to about 74F, but I still notice that it is still kicking on and off. I am aware that it will go on and off due to water temp drops, during this time when it would kick on and off there is good flow within the tank. When I got my new 20 gal kit, the heater was set at 76F and the next morning the thermometer was over 80F. Is this the nature of these heaters being not every accurate when you set it at the temp you want, since my thermometer is reading 4F higher than the heater setting? I have 2 power heads on the right hand side circulating water, and I have a strainer outtake on the right hand side, and another outtake near the middle of the tank for my canister filters. My heater is on the left hand side close to the middle of the tank. If it's crappy heaters, anyone know of any reliable ones? or if the fluval electronic ones are good? I want to get this solved, or figured out if it is a issue, before the summer comes, I live in a condo and it get's hot in there, I don't want to have faulty heaters kicking on and heating up my tank when its not suppose to . Thanks Chris
  10. yeah Thats what I hear. I know I have a lot of males, not that many females. Might have to move them in my big tank and move some other fish into the small tank when it comes to that. Or get a bigger tank. but my gf wont like that at all as I've already spent a lot of money with my two tanks Haha
  11. Haha well I did end up getting a pair of the EB rams, my brother owed me money so I just got him to buy me two. They are pretty nice looking rams and they aren't as aggressive as the normal German blue rams. they just mind their own business and very interesting to watch. All I need is a pair of Bolivian red rams and my ram tank is complete. only thing my 20 gal has 11 rams now. Its getting to the max if it hasn't already!
  12. here's the rest and pics of how both of my tanks look
  13. yeah I really wanted to return my sunblasters when I saw that price with the 20% off. But I threw out my packaging. But I did make some legs and brackets for my 2 sunblasters, So I guess in the end it all worked out the same, not as nice looking but works
  14. I was tempted to buy them, but I bought 2 sunblasters from Lee Valley instead, Last week I went into AquaGiant, and they were selling the 32-48" Odyssa 2 bulb for $99, and they had posters saying everything 20% off!!
  15. Thanks for the quick responses guys, it made my decision a quick one! haha
  16. good point, my small tank may have to stick being a ram tank then, I do want those electric blue balloon rams from AC, but $29.99 a pop is pretty expensive, but they sure are attractive fish, I thought when I bought the Veiltail gold rams for 12 dollars were expensive, but the blues are on a whole new level!
  17. Was wondering if anyone has any experience with Neolamprologu Multi fish, in my 20 gal I have 9 rams, 2 ottos and shrimp, I am interested in these fish because they are small cichlids that use shells as homes, wondering if my tank with the fish I have in it and the amount of fish in it, would work, and since im using the eco complete plant substrate which is simular to the fluval stratum substrate instead of having sand, which is recommended, would substrate still work with these fish. If anyone can help me on this would be much appreciated Thanks Chris
  18. same here, I have ghost, and red claw macro in my big tank, and ghost, cherry and flower in my small, used prime from the start no issues
  19. That is true, the guys at AC told me about the possibility of fin nipping which is common, but I took the chance, and nothing yet...Key word yet
  20. I have 2 Pea puffers, in my community tank, with white clouds minnows, blue sky, black phantom tetras, and harlequin rasp's being my smaller fish, haven't seen any issues that im aware off, they just chase each other around. But like CK said never had experience with the big guys
  21. not a store Haha. but Im getting rid of it. it will eat my shrimp and maybe small fish
  22. well then. paid twenty bucks for this bc we both thought it was a pleco. anyone wants to buy it?
