That's kind of what I was hoping for is checking out the paintball shops. They use the 88g for smaller stuff and you'd think those guys would be interested in up grading to a bigger tank or remote tank too.

Like you said that's probly going to be my best bet now is taking them in or figuring out the threads and going on a hunt. I really was hoping someone's gone trough this battle already and had it figured out lol oh well.

I really was banking on the angel fins adapter as I have no means of transportation. The trucks shipped off to the Yukon an I'll be flying up tomorow morning. Really pickled myself there.

And I highly doubt the fluval canister will last the 3 weeks till I'm back. But oh well

Ya I seen I've seen a bunch on eBay and haven't really used it much. Can't say I'm to big for ordering off line if I don't have to and something that's trusted. Oh well.

I bought I had it all figured out with angle fins, but unfortrioanly wasn't paying attention apparently, no biggy.

I see you can buy the adopters for refillyimg the 88s. But I'm hoping to get a 20oz on it since I already have them. And need something that's going to last for the gf while I'm away.

I ended up picking up a fluval 88g tank to get things going on a smaller planted tank. Now I'm just hoping to get down thing figured out so I can get longer life out of it since I'm on the road a lot.

I'm hoping to get a paintball co2 tank adapter for it if anyone knows a place in Calgary to find one?

Also maybe if anyone has any suggestions or exaperiences for that setup. Thanks Tony

All was good! Just alittle tedious going to bed know there's nothing there circulating the water.

I have lost a show tank of chiclid a in the past when the power was out for a good amount of time so was alil worried.

Ya I'm kinda leaning that way. I do imagine being hey have such a minor impact they can't possibly suffocate themselves of oxygen.

I think ill just trying mixing them up abit here before I go to bed and give them alil circulation.

Ahhhh, still a stressful matter tho! Be horrified to wake upto a bunch of lifeless shrimp

So come home after a day of work to find the powers been disconnected from 7pm till 5am so they can do maintance.

I've never worried about a couple hours here and here but that's quite abit if time.

Just curious on your guys thoughts for the shrimp rack? There's 3 20gallons with a decent number of shrimp and of coarse your basic moss and what not in there. Should I be worried about circulation or air for the time span?

Or is there something I could do to help out besides manually swirl the water here an there?

Ya I really like that style of fluval, really sharp looking. I'm using the ehiems and it's not that there bad looking. I have the back painted flat back and really any heater would stand out. Just looking for a cleaner look.

Those Ada plates are actually quite nice. I assume ou just place a tube style heater on the inside of it? Atleast that would solve the problem of just putting into the soil and not really having good dispersement.

And of coarse the warm weather is approaching and won't really need them

I found mine at ikea that were used to for glass candle holders. Think I got 4 for $2 or something similiar. They have all sizes and shapes and colours in that style

Ya mostly the winter is my only concern. And yes we live in the bottom level of a building so our level is half under ground level.

Ideally an inline would be my preference but I'm sponge and hob filters so I'm not able to squeeze them in.

That's good. I've read and heard they make it nice for an even temp considering the warm air rises. And of coarse the benefits for a planted tank.

I just really like the idea of placing a heater into the substrate for a couple reasons. Mostly for being able to hide it out of view and secondly to help with water flow in the substrate.

My biggest concern would be placing in an active substrate and having the extra heat and flow break down the soil.

Just curious if any one has had any exsperience in using a remote heater under the substrate. It would be for a shrimp setup with Ada soil.

Curious if Id would provide a stable temp and if it would have any adverse effects on an Ada substrate.

Something similiar to the via aqua remote heater would be ideal.

Ya I had a chance to speak with Norm when I was in pickin up some more soil. And mentione to him my plan. Really I'm hoping to split a big bag between 2 tanks. Both have been going since the beginning of Xmas and well established. The one with breeding crs sss and the other with a few Amano till the new shipment arrives.

So the plan is to add a small amount each week to prevent any spikes and hopefully have a chance to adapt. Ill have to keep a close eye on the parameters and if anything is noticed ill have to move the crs group for the time being. Thanks again

Not sure where your located but Pisces here in Calgary always has some in stock, and pretty much everything else ada as well

I have an existing Ada amazonia tank that's been going for about 6 months now with crs in it. They have all been doing fine, quite a few Berried females and a couple have already have baby's.

It's a 23g Long and has quite a bit less soil then my other shrimp tanks and the oh seems to sit abit higher then the others so I'd like to add more ada soil to lower ph and ensure its last as long as the other tanks.

I'm just curious if anyone has tried adding small amounts at a time and if it's had any negative effects on parameters? Or am I better on moving the in habitants ands adding then?

I read doing a quick 15 second dip with the infected shrimp would instantly release the worms. I tried his with a couple of them and it's works quite well.

I dosed the tank with the proper as per directions and hoping that will kill them off. Then just maybe double up my wc for a week or 2. Hopefully this works. I'd rather nature salt before any meds

I've managed to find a couple links and abit of information regarding these "worms"

Just curious if anyone else has ran into these parasites and possible safe medication. Some have said to try an use planaria safe or remover as it also works with other worms. Or possibly a salt bath.

The effected tank hasn't been going for very long. Just before Xmas. But it has been going for 3 weeks before the shrimp were put in there an cycled with old aquarium decor/ gravel and a seeded filter. Possible stress from a new setup?

Haha well that would be cool of it was a genetic thing. It does look like a little white Mohawk. But I highly doubt that. And it seems to be spreading. Looks almost like little white hairs. There's about 6 with them. Some have one or two then there's a couple with a bunch like a wig or something.

I don't think it's part of an old molt. The shell colours are all even and the same. No white or anything similar to a piece of old shed.

I'm leaning towards some sort of parasite or a possible bacterial infection. But can't find anything similiar.

It's diesnt seem to effect them or have I lost any of them. They just seem to keep being active shrimp. Ill have to try an get a decent picture. Thnaks

Just noticed recently in my cull tank I have a couple cherry shrimp these white little spiky growths right on front of there eyes.

It's definalty not something I've seen before. There's only a couple of them like that and it doesn't seem to effect them in any way. They still go about there day as busy shrimp.

I'm curious if anyone has had experience with this. I can't find anything in reguards to it online. Thinkin it possibly a bacterial infection?

Thanks guys. Ya that's what I've been told is best is spot with liquid o2. Just didn't have a chance to get ahold of any before I left again for work this morning.

ns being a new Ada setup I imagine the parameters went out of whack while I've been gone for the past couple weeks.

I dosed with my intibioctoics for now and added a couple more worst ones to increase oxinste levels and will blackout the tank for a couple days.

I'm not planning on adding any shrimp to this tank for atleast 3-4 weeks. So hoping till them I can get things sorted out.

So about 2 weeks ago I started up my 20g long crs tank. I moved over a existing piece Of drift wood with moss into it. Withing the last week the driftwood started to get covered by a good size spot of Cyanobacteria.

I've read a couple things to help rid of it. Higher oxygen levels, 5 day black out and so forth. So was at pieces and the manager there reccomended " chemiclear aquarium treatment" to get rid of

My algea problem. I stressed with him that it was a new invert setup and am kinda hesitant on putting any chemical products in there. It does say invert safe. Just enacted to see if any if it guys have had any exsperience with this product or any other recommendations

Ya so far I'm more then happy happy with the size. But as you mentioned when it comes to fine tuning I imagine ill be getting some 10g going.

For the now here set up alil more complicated then I'd like. But after tearing down a couple other setups I've ended up with alot of extra plants and ect. So for now till these tanks mature I out them in there and after ill simplify them. As for that Rick I'm not sure exactly what it is, but it has a steady stream of bubbles coming off it so it will be coming out. Thanks for bringing that up.

Haha oh that's already been through. Just have to wait. Alil disappointed with my first go with them. Do hoping now things are more prepared and organized well have a better chance with them.

So finally got around to putting a rack together to simplify things and be alil more equipped

I decided to go with a 36"w x 18"d x 72"h rack from Home Depot. That gave me plenty of room for 3 30" tanks. 2 being 20g long and the one on the bottom being 24g. Then leave the top

Shelf open for a 20g long water change tank. For lighting all 3 tanks are set up on timers with aqueon 30" led modular hoods. I've added in the 2 extra bulbs for now and love the setup

The shelves where just put together a few days ago. So will be left alone for a few weeks to mature before the shrimp will be moved over

The bottom tank is the 24g setup for my sss crs. Substrate is Ada amazonia with power sand and Ada bacter/ mineral supplements. Filteration on this tank is a fluval c3 full of seeded media and a dual sponge filter. The hob is defiantly over kill

But I like the fluval a for media space and options and then keep the flow rate down. Also added is and existing piece of driftwood with moss.

The middle tank consist of a 20g long and also a fluval c3 with dual sponges. For Substrate I'm using black flourite with bacter and mineral supplements. The flourite is for the painted fire shrimp and helps out bring out a true red.

Then finally the top tank for now will be a neo cull tank and my other odd neos. Atleast

Till i get some more super tigers. This tank has the same filtration and uses just inert gravel.

Looking forward to moving everything in once they mature enough to do so.

What's the round balls in the tanks? Just decor or do they have a specific purpose?
