  1. Will the osmocote gell caps add the extra nutrients needed? Or is it best to find another liquid one as well?
  2. I was mixing some RO with my tap water to lower the ph KH and GH as it is very high here. I don't use much RO tho.
  3. I am slowly going back to 10hrs, I'm at 9 now. I don't mind some extra cleaning of algae if it shows up on glass, I just don't want it on my plant leaves. The MTS do clean the plants a lot when the puffer isn't in there. Also I will be adding cherry shrimp to aid in cleaning as soon as my RO membrane shows up so I can mix it with tap water.
  4. Thanks for the replies! The puffer is a fahaka and is for sale or trade. It's only in there temporary to bring the MTS population under control which is happening fast LOL. My PH is a touch over 8 and KH-270 GH-150 nitrate-20 nitrite-0 all PPM
  5. Thanks for the tip! Would it be advisable to run more like 6-7 hrs?
  6. forgot to mention temp is 80f. Current plants 3 potted anubias 1 tiny anubias attached to wood 3 offspring java ferns attached to wood 1 moss ball separating already 3 tiger lotus 1 rubra 6 other assorted lily bulbs yet to sprout. I ordered a 6"x6" patch of java moss as well. Any suggestions on small plants for mid/front of tank?
  7. Hi everyone, I am starting my first "real" planted tank and would like opinions on if you guys/gals think I am up to snuff on equipment etc. Below is a list of details on tank/ equipment: 29g tank (30x12x19) Dual t5 HO 22inch- 24watt life glow lights (on for 10hrs a day) Fluval 305 with Seachem media and thick bio media sponge 300 watt heater marina heater (piece of junk) 2.5" layer of Fluval plant stratum. DIY yeast Co2 system with glass/ceramic diffuser RO water mixed with tap water and Kent RO plant/fish buffer Flourish excel few drop dose every water change Osmocote gell caps for substrate fertilizer
  8. Was custom, can't return it tho because I have no idea who the guy was. All bubbles are in the structural seam, repair would mean complete tear down. I was considering adding 1/2" glass shelved in the sides which would double as cross braces as well. Would this help?
  9. Hi, I am asking for your opinions on this new never used 180g aquarium I got for xmas. I am a bit of a hypo when it comes to these things and want to know if I should worry about these structural seem silicone air bubbles, so any opinions good or bad are much appreciated! Pics are of 2 different seems
  10. Anyone have input on using siding Styrofoam under my tank to help with the imperfections in my stand top?
  11. Well I dismantled a 35g tank I have and will use a side from that for the corner. Should I be in a big rush to do this repair and reseal? The tank is still setup with my discus in it and still does not leak and no air bubbles in between panes have expanded. Also would it be a good idea to put foam under the tank due to having wood stand and no bottom trim? I greatly appreciate all the advice, this is my first aquarium over 55g
  12. My plan is when I re-seal the tank I will remove the old seal (inside not between panes) and heavily cover that corner and up the side about 1/2"with silicone as well as the bottom and contacting edges of glass piece and put it into the spot then put the new silicone seal in. I am assuming I should use 1/2" glass to patch it as my current glass is 1/2"? Here is a pic of the tank currently.
  13. Hear is my reason for near future re-seal. Sand behind silicone
  14. Thanks for the fast reply, the weird thing is that all the edges are smooth on that area, no hair cracks visible from outside bottom. Would a full bottom pane installed inside over the current one be good in both cases? My other idea was that the front pane is scratched up at bottom and is exactly the same size as the bottom, how hard would it be to put a new piece on front and put old piece on bottom? Is it risky replacing panes of glass or should I just double layer bottom?
  15. This is the 160 gallon aquarium I recently purchased (79x21x22). I picked up this tank for a great price and had checked it over besides the side tucked into corner, I got it inside my home and filled before I saw this chunk missing out of bottom glass. It holds water and I cant feel any hole behind the inside silicone so I don't think its going that far in. I know it had to be like that when I purchased it and they had it for years setup in that spot with no leaks or cracks(the dust and bug collection under the stand when we moved it leads me to believe it was there that long as they said it was) My question is should I leave it and just do the re-seal I plan on in the near future OR do I buy a 1/2" thick glass cut to fit inside the entire bottom of tank and install it on top of the old one while re-sealing? See pics
  16. Now selling this 55g tank with stand due to upsizing $150 for tank and aluminum stand.
  17. Currently breeding Ghost shrimp (have hundreds of fry) Acei (they only breed if I remove my yellow lab and I have 120ish fry) Trying to breed Synodontis Multipuntatus Discus
  18. Thanks for the comments the stand is all aluminum hand made/welded . The Acei's have started breeding and I now have 80 fry, still hoping to see some synodontis multipun fry in there.
  19. This is my african cichlid and synodontis tank. Currently has a mix of cichlids as well as synodontis petricola dwarfs and synodontis multipuntatus.
