  1. I have been making progress in collecting material for my redneck tank so I thought I would give ya all an update

Kevin has donated a Jamaican beer bottle, got the tackiest flourescent ornaments (including a skull) from Big Al's closing sale (the stuff no one would buy). And I actually paid money for glow in the dark plants from Walmart (I can't believe I did that). There is a dead car from the auction (which is being eaten by a shark) and there is a giant spider sitting on the roof

I have also made inroads in finding a bottle depot with people who understand enough english to save a few small bottles fer me (I am hoping fer a call this week) :)

I would like to say a very special thank you to Connie for her extensive donations including a rainbow plant, BRIGHT orange gravel and a space type of ornament. I dunno where she gets this stuff but her generocity is very appreciated!!!

The rebel flag is still on its way and of course we polished off a few beers this weekend and the bottles are going to be stacked all around the tank

When my masterpiece is dun I will be sure to post pictures and perhaps enter it in some competitions (with this site and/or CAS)??????

Hey if anyone is willing to part with their rebel flag I would be happy to give it a home (replacing our living room curtains).......... wait till Tammy sees this!!!! he he he :o

  2. My experience with concrete blocks has shown (some) to leach various solutions for over a yearwhen exposed to the elements

To be honest I wouldn't trust any type of broken concrete in any of my tanks. Don't forget broken stuff will have sharp edges. If you go ahead with your plan be sure to sand off the sharp parts

  3. I must admit I have bitten by the Discus bug. Reality (her other name is Tammy) keeps roping me in reminding me that if I make the trip to Edmonton or Winnipeg to buy more discus we don't have a place to keep em

  4. My experience with lava rock (in a landscape type setting) has shown me this stuff is TERRIBLE for dust. If you persue such an endevour I strongly suggest you thoroughly clean the material before it goes into a tank. (Perhaps you may choose to wash the rock with a strong stream nozzle on your garden hose)

  5. Mathew!!! I can't freeze her! OMG! You know better...lol. Actually she is looking a bit better...she actually ate tonight and her mouth is functioning a bit better..not perfect yet, but better. Sorry Mathew...no fish food for you -01-

  6. What type of Daylillies do you have?

    Dave

Great link! Put it into my faves!

A frag is a small piece of coral. So if I were to have a HUGE coral, I can chop it into bits and sell those little pieces called frags. Sorta like if a gardener has mega daylilies and wants to thin them out. She would give someone a clump to someone else and before you know it that person has mega daylilies. Same idea.

  7. HI all,

We have a breeding pair of pink convicts and all seemed well until last night. It looks like the female has lock jaw...her mouth is "stuck" for lack of a better word, in a wide open position. She seems unable to eat or do much of anything. I can see right into her mouth and there is nothing in there...I had thought maybe she was moving pebbles and got one stuck but nope her mouth is empty!

Anybody have any idea what this is ? How to treat this? Water parameters are good.
