Coming soon
A couple of teaser shots of the two Pure Black Line we been working on for the last while what will be released soon...
SKA Pure Black Line - Been working on these guys for the past couple years; they have nice thick shell and we got them to the point where most of the offsprings look very similar to their parents (no-entry pattern).
SKA Japanese Black Bee Shrimps - These are F1's from the Benibachi Japanese Black Bee shrimps (the adults in the photos) we imported last year. This line is still very young and been throwing out a variety of different patterns including mosura

livestock list updated!
lots of new stuff arrived over the past few weeks including some nice wild shrimps!Laos Mountain Tiger Shrimps
These are a wild type tiger shrimp from Laos but ID on these are a bit of a mystery. Based on what we can tell they are very similar (or could be) what the Germans call "Tupfel Shrimps" aka the wild form of Tangerine Tigers & Aura Blue Tigers (Caridina Serrata). Others have suggest that these are C.cantonensis. Regardless they are a great looking wild type tiger shrimps with a clear bodies with a spotted tiger pattern - most are clear, while some have a reddish or light blue hue.

Yes that is the "saddle" - it is where the (unfertilized) eggs are developed. When she is ready she will molt and go into hiding and all the males will go into a frenzy to look for her. If a Male is able to do so, the fertilized eggs will be moved down underneath her belly / tail

The yellowing is curious, plastics yellow primarily under UV exposure, making me wonder if these LED's don't have proper phosphorous coatings to convert the UV to visible light.
not 100% sure as i am not expert when it comes to those type of things but it is similar to how some silicon airline tubing turn yellow over time i think. But yeah, i prefer the non waterproof ones
-
I used the LED strips for my current shrimp rack (posted using my other account)
http://albertaaquatica.com/index.php?showtopic=43168
I went all fancy though and got proper aluminium channels with clear acrylic covers that were designed be to used with the strips. Mainly because i wanted something i remove and swap out if needed and a lower profile.
A couple things; if high(er) i recommend the minimum spec would be higher density 5630 LEDs (90 LEDs per meter vs 60 on the normal 5630) or the newer 7020 LEDs - you can also get them in rigid strips in 1m lengths.
I went with waterproof strips for my first set - regretting it now as they tend to yellow after 5-6 months and cut down on output of the lights. But than again, i could get away with non-waterproof ones as I with the the channels with the clear covers which cost 3-4x the price of the LEDs.
These LED are great for shallow tanks but they do when their limits when it comes to penetrating water with deeper tanks - you would need lenses for those to focus the light more but those are not very practical on strips like these.
I got most of my stuff from 724lights (http://www.724light.com/)

great looking start so far!
-
Don't think anybody sell it in edmonton but i can bring some up for you next time i am up there... i can also ship it as well if you need it in a hurry
You want to add GH+ until it is around 3-4, KH is fine at 0 for bee shrimps.

Anubias, java fern, bolbitis & bucephalandra all works great on wood. you can also use various type of mosses to fill in certain areas

Crystal White Shrimps
Crystal White Shrimps are bee shrimps with a clear body and white stripes. Still relatively new to the hobby and quite rare. Kept in standard bee shrimps parameters
NADAL Blue Bee ShrimpsBlue bee shrimps are a wild type paracardina bee shrimp with a brownish-blue body and several white strips. Males tend to be more clear in color compared to the females. Colour is generally not very consistent and depends on their mood and stress levels. These ones in particular have selectively bred (rather than wild caught) and have very solid white strips; more so than their wild counterpart. Kept in bee shrimp parametersWild / Super Tiger Shrimps
These are wild caught tiger shrimps that come from a specific locale in southern China. Appearance wise, most have a bit of yellow in their tail and nose and red colouration at the base of their antennae. They require clean water and lower temperatures - similar parameters as Orange Eye Blue tigers however they can be kept in lower ph as well.
Blue Dream NeocaridinasThese are blue neocaridinas and considered one of the top "grades" of the two development paths of blue neo's along with Blue Diamond. Blue dream comes from blue velvet which in turn came from blue rilli's. They have a medium to deep blue translucent body. Some may have a bit of black on their head. -
price list updated!
and some new photos : )
Low Grade (B/C) Crystal Red Shrimps
Low grade CRS have be very hard to find recently - most asia suppliers only stock A/S grade or higher (3-4 bands). We been looking for these for a very long time! These come from Germany where they been raised in tap water so they have adapted to higher PH levels. We currently have those in our neocaridina tanks with Calgary tap water
NADAL Aura Blue x Pinto Mischlings
These are Aura Blue x Pinto hybrids. Most have the speckled blue heads with clear / white bodies with hints of a tiger pattern while other have a pale white body. You can further develop them by crossing back with aura blue and/or pinto shrimps.
NADAL Super Black Crystal Shrimps (Low/Mid Grade)
Super CBS are crystal black shrimps that have been selectively breed to increase their black coverage. Low / mid grade Super CBS usually have 2-3 white bands. Kept in standard bee shrimps parameters.
NADAL Super Red Crystal Shrimps (High Grade)
Super CRS are crystal Red shrimps that have been selectively breed to increase their red coverage. High grade Super CRS are almost completely red except for a bit of white on their nose / front of their head and tail. Kept in standard bee shrimps parameters

Bucephalandra are a relatively new (to the hobby) and exciting species of plants from Borneo in Indonesia. They are similar to Anubias and Java ferns in that they have rhizomes can can be grown on driftwood or rocks. Like Anubias and Java ferns, they are a fairly undemanding plant as they don't really have any special requirements but will grow very slowly. Most Buce species are quite small (under 5cm) but some of the larger species can grow up to 20cm.
See our thread on Bucephalandra Plants for more info:
http://albertaaquati...40#entry2300526
We sell our Buce as individual plantlets / stalks. Most will come with 5-7 leaves and will be mounted on lava rocks or SS mesh pads. Photos include a quarter for reference. Please note that most of our Buce are keep semi-emersed conditions so their leaves are mainly green - it will take them a few months inside your aquarium to fully colour up.
Prices are $8.99 each unless otherwise noted
Buy 5, get 1 FREE
Local pickup in Calgary (downtown west)
Will also ship across Alberta & Canada - Shipping is a flat $10* / FREE SHIPPING on buce orders over $60

Have you seen any mosura offsprings from your own line of PRL? Or is that not possible?
Yes, I seen around 6 or so in the last year but their quality were not that great; if i recall most if not all of them came from my lower grade tanks
