  1. Thanks for the advise. I appreciate it. I'm really focusing on teaching her how to feed properly. I put the filter on a switch for her so she can switch it off when she feeds then. I would like to add some shrimp down the road and when I do I'll definitely get some moss
  2. I added to my tank. My set up is as follows Fluval flex 32.5 gallons. 29 gallons swimable space. Fluval flex stock sump filter and an additional Sicce 120 canister filter. Heavily (fake) planted. Mild water flow Stock 1 powder Blue dwarf gourami 4 Emperor Tetras 6 rummy nose tetras 4 bolivian rams 5 black cory catfish Obviously it's over stocked. All these fish are very juvenile/ small right now and I am prepared to make changes as need as the community develops. Every one is getting along. Except the rummy nose school has been hiding in the corner behind a plant today. I added the 4 emperor tetras in yesterday and they are active! I think they are stressing the rummy out. I'm not sure if I should wait and see if they adjust or just move the emperors out now.
  3. If I added another 4 rummys and a school of 6 small cory cats do you guys think that will work? Or will the cory cats cause stress for the rams taking up more of their valued substrate space. I have seen videos of bolivian rams hanging out with Cory's Maybe I rehome a couple rams and then add the corys. But my rams seam to tolerate each other alright now. I would hate to mess that up
  4. I'm in no rush to add to this tank I'm just researching and brainstorming. I love the tank but it just seems to be missing somthing
  5. Yes thank you for that note. The ick has been cleared up for a week now after a two week salt and heat treatment. The rams are young and to be honest I'm not sure if their squabbling is a problem or just normal. I moved the scape around a bit and started observing the tank from across the room and the rams seem peaceful enough with one another. It's when I approach the tank and they think it's feeding time that they become little jerks lol
  6. I have a heavily fake planted fluval flex 29 gallon tank set up. It's about 29 gallons of swimable space. 3 gallons of filter compartment. I have a powder blue dwarf Gourami in there and I'm amazed at how active he is. He swims like crazy all over the tank at all levels. He's great to watch. I couldn't imagine keeping a fish like that in anything smaller. Initially I purchased two of these guys. One was aggressive and went after the other gourami and my bolivian ram colony. So I returned him. I would really love to find another piecful on to go in my tank. Is it big enough for two of them? Every time I look at videos of people with multiples it seems they are different colour variety. Like a flame and a powder. Is there anything to that. Is there any one on here breeding these guys?
  7. That's basically exactly what I was thinking of setting up. I really like the watchmen gobies
  8. Thanks again for the advice folks, I heat treated my tank and salt treated it for 14 days. Brought the temp down changed the water and every one is happy again
  9. If You had to choose the hardest aspect of a salt water tank management in a fish only tank. What would it be? Don't you have to check salinity and petamiters daily? What do you do if you go on vacation for two weeks?
  10. The reviews on the inflow and few other filter basket inserts change the flow of water from the original design that fluval intended. It seems they all are designed just a little differently. Reviews seem to be up and down, some people favoring one over the other
  11. Iv looked at the inflow and two other baskets. The flex filter sponge is good for biomedia but the foam block is really course and it just doesn't polish the water the way I like it to. Iv been back and forth. I think I'm going to order a filter basket to try on the 15 Gallon flex and put a small canister on the 32
  12. Interesting. Thanks for the reply. I talked to a guy that told me salt water wasn't any harder than fresh water once you get the hang of it. The more I research it seems that's maybe not the case
  13. I'm having problems with my nieces Guppy tank. It's a fluval flex 15 with 4 guppys in it. I check on it twice a week, the guppies only feed at the surface and food gets left on the substrate and rots away and is a constant mess. She's only 9. I'd like to add a clean up crew to help me manage the issue. I'm thinking cory cats? But it's only 12 gallons of swimable space. Maybe cherry shrimp. Any suggestions would be appreciated!
  14. Nice. I'll look into the hatchet fish. Thank you
  15. I purchased a fluval flex 32.5 for my father and a flex 15 for my niece for Christmas. I'm really unhappy with multiple aspects of the filtration design. There are a handful of upgrade filter baskets for these tanks on etsy. Does any one have any knowledge or experience with these products? Good ones, ones I should stay away from. Is any one on here running a flex?
  16. I'm thinking about putting a salt water tank together. Easy corals and easy fish. I'm strictly fresh water right now. Is there a book any one would recommend to teach me the ins and outs? There's a salt water for dummies book. Is it any good?
  17. Thank you. I appreciate that. Thats what I'll try
  18. I have 4 bolivians in a 30 gallon tank right now heavily decorated with rocks, coconut caves and large silk plants. They are still juvenile but getting bigger. One has taken up territory on the left side of the tank one in the middle and one on the other side. The third guy is the smallest and spends a lot of time higher in the water column in the plants. Border squirmishes are common among the bottom three and are slowly becoming more aggressive. When the little guy comes down from the plants he just gets chased around by the other three. So... Do I add another 4 keeping them in a larger group to spread out the aggression. Do I remove a fish? What fish do I remove? Or do I change the decor around and try to divide territory a little differently? What's the answer to my puzzle, Go! Lol. Any suggestions from experienced bolivian keepers would be appreciated. Iv seen people keep these guys in large numbers and do well. They are still to young for me to sex
  19. How much salt would you dose?
  20. Thanks for your Wisdom I really appreciate it. My tank is meticulous I'm not sure how it got in there. I purchased a bag of aqarium salt from aqarium central. It was just a plastic bag with an elastic. I'm not sure I put enough in. If any one knows the recommended dose I would love some help there too. The Internet has conflicting information
  21. Should I hold off water changes for the 10 day period. Some sites recommend lots of water changes
  22. Ok thank you. Should I add more salt. Iv gotten conflicting information. I went a quarter cup to 32.5 gallons. That's about 5 table spoons
