How many eggs do each shrimp have anyways? I just noticed another shrimp with eggs but this one is much smaller and clearer.

They have about 20 eggs and they become sexually mature at the 3 month old mark. The darker (redder) the shrimp is, the older it is. The really dark red are near the end of their life span.

I would probably split the tank with piece of egg crate so the fry can retreat to safety.

Q: The fish has bloody patches on the skin as if it were sanded or scraped off.

A: Your fish are affected by a Costia infestation. (Ichthyobodo).

Treatment: Treat the fish with Acriflavine Neutral -or- Copper Sulfate.

It is very possible and sounds quite likely that the yellow lab and the esterae hybridized. I've seen yellows before for sale in pet shops that you know were hybridized with esteraes. I won't keep my yellows with my zebras, body shape is very similar and the coloring is too close.

Good article Neil. I always wondered why on flakes and discs labelled spirinula that the main ingredient wasn't spirinula. This now puts it in a little better perspective.

When I trimmed mine like that, they seemed to send more runners out and they grew back just fine.

Here is the pic of the tank, the plastic plants have since been replace with real ones. They will also be getting transferred into a 20g long this coming weekend.

I was in BA in Edmonton and saw a tankful of peacock gudgeon, Tateurndina ocellicauda.

Ended up buying one. I new some about this fish but if anybody has any personal experience, I will be most grateful if you shared.

I keep a tank of about 20 of these. They will spawn fairly regularly. I just use a 3" piece of 3/4" dia. pvc pipe for them to spawn in. They usually lay around 50 eggs on the roof of the pipe. The male usually won't eat when spawning so make sure to pull the cave out after a spawn or two for a few days. After the eggs are layed you wait for 5 days, then remove the cave with the eggs into another container for the fry to hatch. That will take another couple of days. I feed mine spray krill and microworms. Fry are very tiny, like rainbow fry and I find they grow slow. I just use regular tap water (very hard) and the ph is around 8. They will spawn just feeding flake food but they also enjoy frozen bloodworms very much.

Just starting off by saying hello to everyone. I live 45 miles north of Winnipeg. I spend way too much time in front of my tanks and on the computer. Currently I keep mostly africans, some SAs and a couple of oddballs.
