  1. umm....this is my first time possibly breeding. If they do hatch what is green water and microworm?
  2. See i'm not really sure, i did see a male and female in that area acting slightly weird and that's why i think it. Also i have a very busy bristlenose pleco who is constantly cleaning everything including the plants. So I think they are eggs. Do i need to do anything for this plant or just pull it and wait.
  3. It doesn't really matter, they're fake. If they're eggs what should i do? Do i leave them in the tank with the rest of the fish or should i pull them out and put them in my empty tank?
  4. haven't touched them yet but they definitely look like an eggy type thing by that i mean there is a definite texture there like little bumps. if they are eggs would i destroy them by touching them
  5. Okay here's the scoop, I added 8 cherry barbs to my twenty gallon tank about a week ago and i noticed a couple of them near my fake plants today and now there are black spots all over the plants? Are they eggs as it was a male and female or am i freaking out? Maniac

Welcome here hope you enjoy the stay
  7. That's awesome man, thanks for working on that.
  8. I agree thanks for doing that, and sorry i just read the discussion under the suggestion forum. I really didn't know it was that big of a problem. Maniac
  9. I thought that fish keeping was stupid originally and then I got to college and started to learn more about the hobby but what really got me is that a buddy of mine had a very aggressive oscar.....sorry i should say suicidal oscar. I found myself doing a lot of homework in his room because the fish kept me company and i found myself missing him so i bought myself a twenty gallon tank with a Jack Dempsey and now have expanded. Maniac
  10. No No I'm sorry, I didn't realize I guess somewhere i must have missed that. Is there somewhere i can get these reviews? Oh and by the way thanks for telling me. Maniac
  11. I went in there the other day and yeah it's small but i thought the fish were in good condition, especially bolivian rams. Has anyone else been in there? How are they to deal with? Maniac
  12. another great way to tell is the eye if the colouring hasn't developed yet. The german rams have red around their eyes whereas bolivian rams do not. I noticed this even when they were small, so size shouldn't make a difference. Maniac
  13. okay, i'm setting up a tank with german rams, and also have one bristlenose pleco. so I posted a while back about what kind of fish go well with this and i understand that. I'm just wondering if cherry barbs will work even though they are originally from sri lanka? I mean is it a big thing to mix fish originating in asia with SA cichlids? Maniac
  14. Well specifically, I'm looking for a female long fin german ram. I've been looking at petland in crowfoot shopping area and they have a bunch of males. I bought one out of the last batch that came in but they have no females. So I mean even if there is a store that may have some in a group, i am willing to buy a group for my tank and get rid of them when they get to big. Thanks Maniac
  15. Hey I'm trying to find some specific fish and I'm getting frustrated in waiting for fish stores to bring in fish? so I'm wondering are there any decent fish auctions available in Calgary or on the internet that are worth checking out? Maniac

    New to AA

Welcome to the site, I to have a problem. It started a few months back with one tank...... NOW I HAVE THREE. Oh well I love my new problem and now there's plants too. Oh my oh my oh my, my wife will kill me soon. Welcome to the site man. Maniac
  17. so with the rubbermaid tubs, do you mean put the fish in there while moving or what? Sorry i got a little confused betweent eh bag buddies and the rubbermaid tubs with the sponge filters.
  18. Okay, first the tank is not mine as i don't have the guts nor money to take care of a saltwater aquarium. but i have a friend moving from Prince George to Vancouver and does not want to give up his fish but isn't sure how to move the fish so they will survive. Is there a way, or is it just better to give the fish to a fish store and restart? I believe he's going to try a one day move. Chad
  19. hey I joined tropical fish forums before i joined AA and one thing i still check on their site is the fish index that they have set up. It has helped me out a lot. Just wondering if we could set one up here. Maybe have different members contribute to the index. Just an idea Maniac
  20. alright thanks, i guess i've gotta try it, my JD is going to outgrow the tank so i guess first things first. I just don't want to give him up. Oh well new fish are on the horizon. Chad
  21. well it doesn't really matter for the gold rams anymore, my wife doesn't like the way the fins stick up and since the tank is in the living room, I get vetoed. but fortunately she doesn't mind the longfin german rams so i think I'm going to go for those but unfortunately Petland has them but won't let me bring one back in case i get two males. sigh...... what to do? does the same general rules apply for longfin rams as german rams or does it change things? Chad
  22. okay the next question is then, what's a breeding tube and how do i know that a pair has formed or do you just know that? Chad
  23. I'm going to get some rams for my tank and i'm trying to decide between gold and german rams. Now because of the dimensions of the tank i can sadly only get two so it needs to be a female and a male but how can you tell the difference with gold rams? I think i can tell with german rams but gold rams are a mystery to me. Thanks Chad

    filter died

I think my filter died, i mean i was doing a water change and admittedly i forgot to turn it off right away but i turned it off very soon. When i plugged it in again it didn't work. Any ideas? I can leave it overnight but i don't know how much longer? Chad
