  1. Alright, now I gotta fix something and was wondering the best way to do it. For the second time, today I found a fish in my sump. I guess it somehow got over the overflow and swam into the Durso standpipe and swoosh, down he went into the sump. Fortunately this one was still alive, unlike the little petricolas that earlier got stuck in the filter media and perished.

Anyway, I was thinking of either adding some screen or eggcrate over the overflow, but was concerned that this may make maintenance a bit more of a pain. The other thing I though of was just to put same screeen or eggcrate over the "entrance" to the durso standpipe, but this may get clogged up and block flow.

    Other options or ideas???

    Thanks

    Boom :boom:

    Hey Ryan,

You have probably already seen this, but http://www.dursostandpipes.com/?page_id=31

    Cheers!!

  2. I am thinking of getting a bigger thank, somewhere in the 300 gallon range (72x36x27ish). I have seen the one at Big Als but was wondering if anyone had recommendations for other places in Edmonton where I could get something similar, with overflows and a sump. I know the stores, but am looking for people who have actually purchased from the store. The two factors that I am balancing, as always, is price versus quality. I am thinking on this one that quality is more important. Thanks for the help.

Yes, quality is important at that size. I bought mine from AquaGiant for $900, no problem except holes are in metric and had to wait 2 months. My buddy bought his at Riverfront in Calgary, built by Mitch, he paid 850, two years ago. both tanks are 280 gallons.

  3. that would be awesome if aquagiant would do it cause then im sure id get an accurate peice. but if i can get it for cheap like 50 bucks id be happy. i just wonder if ill beable to do a decent job on cutting it out and sealing a new peice in. have resealed lots of tanks without problems, but never had to insert any new peices or anything yet :(

Just wondering, if Aquagiant could cut the glass, why wouldn't they fix and sell it? But that's great if you can fix it. :smokey:

  4. Hey Boom, you make me sick! LOL!! What an awesome project you have going on. I am sure that most people here have their eyes wide open and checking this site even more frequently to see if you have any updates. I have put my project on hold till you finish yours, need to see what else I can screw up on. You obviously have done you homework and have a great set of hands. Keep the pictures coming. I have a small project if you are interested.

  5. Every time a have to move a big tank, the guys at Crystal Glass have been very helpful. They let me pick them up at days end and have them back before they start work the next day. I usually buy them some coffee and some timmies.
