Hey Pagani, what brand is your air pump, I was about to buy one from BA's the one that takes 2 D cell, but the sales guys sale they are not worth it. He also suggested UPS. From my experience the UPS batteries have to be replaced about every 20 months. Now you guys with the generators, don't you have to be at home to switch them on and are they not fueled by gasoline?

First of all congrats on your new tank!! How big is large. I am also new to the sump thing and I would recommend it to everyone. Lots of good posting out there, check out "Booms", stuff as he has a few good links there. The only thing I wish I would have done differently is setup a drip systems, as well. Right now I am doing about 150 gallon WC every 3 days.
Like Jason said, need a good mec system before your pump, you may want to look at filter sock, which I a have recently learned about.

beautiful fish, i have a silver one now but i want to make the jump to a super red, how wide/long of a tank to i need to comfortably house a full grown arrowana 36" ?
