where is all the calgary peoples
christian,
Bah, been a busy week. :P I have been getting all rested since it is likely to be a 6am-10pm sort of day for me.

Fast them a good 24-36 hours. I have had fish bagged (lightly packed) with bag buddies for over three days...that being said, bagging them up at the last possible time, the better.
-
Cannot see making this one, dammit...but you can bet I would be wearing my orange T-shirt (which I am told I look pretty good in by Alley) if I could.

I heard a horror story once of some guy whose tank blew and managed to wipe out the furnace while they were away in the winter... Without heat and with the amount of water involved the water ended up freezing into a nice big block of ice in his basement because it couldn't drain fast enough. Talk about major problems...
I have an even better one about a guy that insisted that a 450 be delivered to the middle of his upstairs living room...where he set it up....it decided it wanted to be in his basement more....

It is also illegal in Canada to refuse to sell to a person due to their low pricing policy.
They do not usually refuse, they just nil-order all their future orders....and if they do refuse to sell to a vendor, they just cite other reasons.

I like the API kits for ease of use, and they are quite decently accurate....price is good, and they include a decent amount of reagent, too. The API Master has ammonia, nitrite, nitrate and pH, which is a good core set of tests to have.....for whatever reason, the Nutrafin Mini-Master lacks the nitrate and has a hardness test instead....the Nutrafin Master has everything, but is reasonably spendy (usually about $75+).

I have had 2-3 returned to the store (out of perhaps 45-50 sold), but have had no problems with my own few...I suspect that Coralife may have had a batch with problems.

Very nice, Kevin....an impressive pair.

None in the NW that I know of...there is Speedy, but they are usually wickedly spendy for even the smallest of things. Most of the glass places are down in the SE, off Barlow.

Yes we have it IN STOCK now,
Ditto...both sizes on the shleves as of tonight.

1. The tank was overloaded to begin with.
2. The massive water change likely caused at least some sudden change in water parameters.
3. Removing all the substrate disrupted the biological bed and likely released a fair amount of organic material into the water column.
4. You added more fish, adding to the already huge bioload....and the bala sharks are typically difficult to acclimate at best.
5. I have no idea why the filter stopped, but the lack of filtration, combined with a lack of oxygenation was a major factor.

Not much fish stuff, really, but they have been useful to me, as they have had some new old stock kicking around from the 80's....grabbed a few books and ornaments there in months past.

For those of you that like them, or need parts, the GrrrAnimals store up in Beverly (NE Edmonton) is clearing-out some old-stock NIB Fluval 103 and 203 canisters.

As far as I am aware, they are still opening, although based on the complete absence of any apparent construction in the bay that they have leased, I am guessing that they will not be cracking their doors until fall 2008 at the earliest.

Sauron (member here) had some really nice 8-outlet computer ones (from Tiger Electronics, I believe), that ran about $25 each, if I recall correctly.
Cannot find the ones he has, but this one looks nifty:
