  1. I'm just startin on my tank as well, but every time I get a male I try to get a female or two to go with em, one day I'm gonna wake up and there'll be a hundred tiny fish floatin around the tank :P
  2. nice lookin tank...looks like you have the same love of the blue guys as I do :P is that a lithobates floating near the middle left on the first shot? I just picked up a pair from gold's yesterday, such a nice lookin fish...
  3. ooo, yeah, I totally forgot about that one...that tanks gotta be like 1000 gallons. I woulda thought the arrowana would of got the fry by now for sure too...
  4. I actually really like franco's display tanks, they're what a showtank should be in my opinion, an example of the different kinds and sizes of fish that you can mix, sure she doesn't have many of them, but still...
  5. just a reflection, you can see the TV on the other side of the tank clearly from the other side... I do have quite a few jewels, they were bought for me from the auction(not on my shopping list, but meh) I am hoping to take most of them out of there and have maybe just malawi cichlids and the loaches. I also have 2 Melanochromis Auratus that I am hoping to get rid of, I just have to get around to it. the rocks are pretty stable, as I was building it I was pushing down on each part in each direction to make sure it wouldn't fall, cus that would suck.
  6. Took a pic of my 96 this morning to show to the family out in BC, figured I would share it. the tank is currently home to 20 mixed cichlids(would say mixed africans, but thanks to the auction it has a couple red jewels in it as well at the moment), 5 clown loaches, and 1 lonely pleco. This is my first attempt at marine landscaping, so be gentle :P
  7. it is...I saw em last night...they're quite impressive...but I decided to hold off on getting a fish that can get to be a foot long for a bit :P
  8. ah...your picture turned out much better than mine...thanks for the id so was I at least right on the gender?
  9. indeed...amazing looking tank, unreal colors on those reds...
  10. excellent, thanks. I was thinking it's probably a male and female(male being the darker one with the stripes), they're really funny to watch...in the old tank the male was OBSESSED with rearranging the gravel from under one of the decorations, it got to the point there was a small mountain outside the entrance to it and you could see the bottom of the aquarium under the decoration...now the two of them are just keepin busy avoiding the electric yellow that has decided to be the agressor in the new tank :S
  11. no, sorry, that's the camera being a piece of **** for you...the color of the second fish is much more accurate, and the first fish is noticably lighter purple. and no black stripe, but in the description it mentions that some families don't have the stripe...also worth mentioning that the darker one has some very faint greyish vertical bars that didn't show up :S
  12. ok, trying to figure out what it is I have in my tank now that I'm trying to get away from impulse buying...I have these two purple/blue juvi's and I am wondering if they are of the same type or not(my guess is Pseudotropheus socolofi but it's just a guess)...so without further ado...here's the best shots the buggers would let me get of them... they seem to get along really well, any time you look at my tank they are cruisin around together(and not trying to kill each other)
  13. my cray was bigger than my cichlids and they still managed to get him...assholes
  14. sorry bout that...I live out in strathmore, doing the whole commute to calgary thing every day...
  15. hey, thought I'd drop in. Just getting into the fresh water fun, getting a new tank made here over the next couple weeks since the tank I started with is much to small for what I want to do, then I'm gonna make a 10 gallon salt water out of the small one(it's the only way the girlfriend would let me upgrade my tank so soon, she said if I get her a nemo and a dory I could buy a bigger tank). Currently I have a half dozen mixed africans of no particular type, and an Electric Blue Crayfish named Arc(yes, I know he's gonna get eaten once the cichlids get bigger).
