  1. A couple of comments that hopefully will be food for thought for all of you;

    1. There is only one side to this story. Perhaps these were new or sick reptiles he had taken in, we don't know. As for the rabbits, Wayne only sells reptiles or fish so I'm thinking they were someone's dinner. Also what is medical distress? Were they not fed, enclosures not clean etc? Quite frankly, I think Riverfront is an easy target for the SPCA as he's not one of the chain stores with deep pockets for lawyers.

    2. Response on social media has been nasty. What happened to the" innocent until proven guilty" that we all abide by?

    3. Riverfront is this man's way of providing for his family and his livelihood for many years. All this publicity will destroy his business and what will he do then?

    Just my 2 cents!!

Yup I agree with everything you say...You should post it on Calgary Aquarium Societies Facebook page as well.

  2. Been keeping Bolivian Rams for years and find them to be very hardy and healthy. Currently have 6 wild caught adults and they are thriving. I do a daily small water change with no added conditioner which they handle with no problems.

German Blue rams, a domestic species, now come from mainly Asian breeders and I steer a wide course from them. Wild caught Rams are another matter entirely, coming from a huge range of bogs and streams in mainly Columbia, Venezuala and Brazil. Out of some streams they are completely colourless and others highly coloured. Those out of bogs are often highly coloured, with every site offering a completely differently coloured fish. When breeding I have had some raise a good brood in Calgary tapwater, others required significant softening of the water for success to be achieved. Wild caught Gold Rams out of Columbia, while extremely beautiful , have proven impossible for even experts to keep alive either in aquaria or fish farms. The Gold Ram found in the hobby is simply a developed colour morph of the Blue Ram

South American exporters will often label W/C mikrogeophagus ramirezi as german blue rams.

  3. Saw some of those in the, lack of a better term "swamp", of our resort when we were in the Mayan last Spring. A couple beautiful specimens you have there.

Yeah I can't really capture their true colours with the camera ..but they are looking good. The female is getting redder with every spawn.

  4. I need the tank they are in to grow out a group of Cichlasoma ornatum I got a while ago.

Hope you sell some offspring if you get them to breed. I have been looking for these for a long time.

Hopefully soon ..I have 5 the biggest is around 5 inches now.

  5. any fry for sale, how big?

I have 4 adults available ..1 breeding pair , 1 male and another I think is a female. They are all about 9-12 inches now. I need the tank they are in to grow out a group of Cichlasoma ornatum I got a while ago.

  6. Do they have any fish with the flaming C available ?

I hope they don't Jorg and I realize your attempt at humor, it's just seeing the deformities and mutilations done to fish upset me. I've joined a wonderful bunch of people who are attempting to get the sale of dyed/tattooed/mutilated (ie heart shaped parrotfish) banned for sale in Canada as their isn't much regulations (as your probably aware) concerning cruelty to fish as they are not technically considered a pet

I was kidding, but seriously tattooed fish don't bother me much. I don't know I kinda place it on the same level as getting my dog tattooed except one is for ID and one is for decoration. I would never buy one as I think they are stupid looking but they have been for sale there on and off for a long time.

  7. With this warm weather I'm thinking the small ponds might start producing this weekend. I didn't freeze much last year so I'm down to 7 packs of frozen pond mix.. will update as the ponds start giving away free foods.

  8. I obtained a group of juvenile Cichlasoma urophthalmus last summer. Here are some shots of a busy young pair.
