corrosionjerry
I started using a foam filter on one of my tanks a couple of months back in combination with a biowheel... I want to take the bio wheel out eventually as this tank will have little ones shortly... The question I have is: The foam filter is rated for a 20gallon tank (Hydro-11 ) I ran a 1/4 tubing to the top of it and I am using an Airmaster air pump rated for 15 gallons... Is the air pump good enough for this filter or should I be looking at purchasing something a little better? Jerrry
k9outfit
Go for a (much) larger airpump, and a larger sponge filter. I'm using sponges rated for 40 gallons in 10 gallon tanks, having switched up from the smaller ones. As for the airpump, you'll need one that'll handle 4 - 6 tanks - to handle all your future fry tanks.... :smokey: Edited April 6, 2007 by k9outfit
corrosionjerry
Thanks K9 as always! New I should of purchased a bigger foam filter... I am going to add another one shortly and remove the biowheel and i guess I will buy a bigger pump to supply both filters....Hopefully I can find a quiet one... Rainmaker69
I have had good luck with Petcetera double outlet air pumps, good output and fairly quiet. I set them on a piece of packing foam to insulate them from hard surfaces and they are quiet.
