Slough Shark
I woke up this morning and went to inspect my 6 Gal Invert tank. I noticed one of my hermits was laying out of it's shell and got worried, turned out he just molted and I was looking at his molt. Then I went to look at all of my little bugs in the tank, amphopods. They are all growing and are entertaining to watch, it seems every few days something new pops up, today I found a bistleworm. As I took some water samples to make sure the salinity was OK, I saw some little floaties and was wondering what the heck they are. I inspected my LR to see if I could find their origin and sure enough there is the smaller of my two hermits with a sack of baby crabs churning it about. I am going to try to grab one to take a look under the microscope. So my questions for this day are: 1) Are Hermit Crabs asexual? 2) Do these hermit crab "fry" need special care (ie. food) Thanks a million, Taylor Edited April 28, 2007 by Slough Shark
windeindoiel
I would imagine baby hermits definately need little tiny shells to live in. And seeing how the adults can find all the food in the tank they need I would imagine babies could too. And cool that they're reproducing. Slough Shark
Thanks for the logical common sense, I lose mine sometimes :P I think if they survive this first week, I might have a chance at keeping them.
