firestorm
I noticed the other day when pruning my plants that my Ludwigia repens stems seem to be rotted about halfway up the stem. Yet the upper half was completely healthy still. So I trimmed the healthy parts off and placed them in another tank. Just wondering what could be causing the rotting? Is it maybe lack of light getting to the bottom portions of the stem?
werner
It might be lack of light. Is the plant is quite long and scraggly looking, and mostly green? It could also be from stem damage when it was previously planted. May also be a low potassium issue.
firestorm
Well I dose by EI, plant is pretty red because I dose with iron 3x a week. Also have CO2 going on the tank. The plant is fairly tall, tank is a 35 tall tank, which is why lack of light was my best assumption? It seems that mostly all the stems were starting to rot, which were about 5-6 stems. The plant wasn't super full though. I have the hagen glo T5HO lights on the tank with 6700K bulbs, so spectrum I don't think is an issue. werner
Yeah, prolly just not enough light getting at the bottom parts.
firestorm
Thanks, I thinned them out some, so hopefully it will be better
