Navigator
I am in the process of setting up my 90 gallon marine tank and I am having a small dilemma. It currently has about 60 lbs of live rock (about 30 lbs of new, and 30 lbs of dried out from my previous set up). I know I need about 30 lbs more of live rock at a minimum for a FOWLR tank however my question is how the heck to mechanically filter this thing? I'm getting conflicting advice from my marine keeping books and I don't have the technical know how or the drive to set up a sump or refugium right now. I have a skimmer but it doesn't seem to work anymore (Prism X with Pro upgrade) - maybe needs a new pump? I used a skimmer and a canister filter on my 55 gallon set up but had trouble with algae. One book says yes to canisters and one book says no as it will strip the water of oxygen and increase the nitrate levels. Any advice would be welcome! Thank you!
