d0hb0y
So about a month ago put in a piece of Geosystems driftwood into my 10G tank. A couple weeks later I attached (using a rubberband) a few stems of Anubias Nana to it. Today I noticed there's a white mold/fuzz growing at the base of the anubias where it is attached to the piece of wood. I've read on various sites that this could be the cause of the wood rotting. Any suggestions on what to do at this point?
werner
Newly submerged driftwood will often grow some whitish fungus. Got any Otocinclus or other cleaners in there? They will usually eat the stuff, and the spot under the Anubias may be the only place they can't get at.
d0hb0y
No, no Otos or any algae eaters in the tank because of two reasons... 1) I have another post on this forum regarding "white fuzzies" in my tank and am afraid to introduce anything to the tank until I can figure out what these "white fuzzies" are. 2) It's a puffer tank and i'm a bit cautious about what tankmates to add. I'm still doing my research on tankmates for pea puffers. For the time being, can I remove the white fungus using a toothbrush or something? Will it grow back? Sorry for all the questions lately, i'm still new and learning all this.
werner
You can remove it if you feel like it, but it should eventually go away on its own. More info here: fungi on wood (scroll down).
