It's quieter than the small air pumps it replaced and I don't have as many cords to try and find outlets for. It's running to a 12 port gang valve but could probably do a lot more. It is not as quiet as my canister filters, but makes less noise that a HOB or the smaller air pumps. I'd go for a canister filter if I were thinking of the bedroom... but if you like the sound of air bubbles, it might be OK in the bedroom...
