Poor water condition due to overcrowding and such can cause Bloat.

I raised 3 of them to about 4" then lost them to bloat. Probably due to cramp tank space.

You can notch the eggcrate to fit in there and it is very strong.

Filters are always over rated.

If a filter is rated for a 175g, then it's probably only good for about half of that at best.

I'm of the opinion that at full grown these previous fish are too big for a 54.

Green terror would be more appropriate in size, but not as feisty.

It may be better to stick to 6-8 inchers so you can give them plenty of environment, hiding spots etc. Anytime you are going with big personalities you need the extra room.

That tank is too small to have any of the more aggresive/personality.

A foot print of atleast 48"x18" would be a *min* for a smaller variety of guapote or similar fish.

I have never tried the fishing line trick, but i do know a small guitar string works perdy slick.

Archocentrus panamensis is actualy the current name, but everyone knows how that goes.

With a tank that size i would re-seal it just as a precaution.
