  5. Hi Tom I must say I agree with RD the bigger the space for stuff to fall into the more problems you;ll have. Plus larger spaces mean pockets of dead water flow. Meaning where the water doesn't flow it just sits there and goes bad. Not a good thing. I have been using Frac Sand it's very fin in our tanks we have not had any problems with it clogging the filters. It looks great and my fish really like it. I have never had a problem with nitrate or nitrite since i have used this stuff. one year now. It doesn't cloud up or anything. I would just do what you want and what works for you. As long as you do your water changes that'll stir it up and clean it so nothing will have time to grow in your sand. AKA bacteria or nitrates/nitrites. Hope this helps. Jenn
  6. This tank is run by 2 Xp3 Rena FilStars. 2 x 250 EboJager heaters not sure on the spelling. 2 8ft strips of daylight T5's and 1 8ft strip of Atinic Blue T5 for the lighting. 8mm glass tops to stop the cats from falling in lol. Bought glass tops at local glass store. Got the silica sand fine grit from a place my dad gets thier Fracing sand from. Do about a 3rd of the water, water changes every week. Those Filters awesome the water is always cystal clear I am very impressed with there performance. As for the lights I am thinking about changing them as I am not impressed with the color it gives off. That's the daylight ones. Anyway that's all I can think of. I will try to get a larger picture. If you have anymore questions ask away. Jenn
