  1. I got it from Henry Oxquo. He DID have 2 or 3... I got the best one though! :smokey: I had to buy it as soon as I saw it, I drooled over Garhan's but he wasn't willing to give it to me!! :cuss: Thanks for all the info guys, the stuff I've been finding on the net is pretty vague, kinda assumes that the reader has more knowledge than I do! OK, well there is at least one more flower stalk coming up now. I'm a little worried about the original one, since I poked it out the top it has kinda gotten dehydrated, not the bud part but the top of the stalk if that makes sense, I was almost thinking I should have left it in... If this one craps out I will wait longer with the next one before taking it out. Experiment time! Right now I'm wishing I had an open top tank with hanging lights, oh well... can't have everything I guess!
  2. It's now long enough to stick out of a small opening in the top. I see 4 new shoots on the plant as well, very cool! If the flower opens I will definitely take a pic... So Kyle... if I understand correctly what I've been reading... if I get more than one flower, I should use a q-tip or a fine brush to spread the pollen? Just from one flower to the next? Then what? Do I need to do something else? Just let the flower die? Cut it off? And where do the seeds grow? What should I do with them? I would love to have more of these plants, it was expensive to buy and is beautiful!
  3. That's what I was thinking.... thanks AF! It is just about long enough to reach now. I can't believe how fast this thing is growing!
  4. Hmmm interesting... I'll hafta see if I can find more info on propragation... It's almost to the top now... not sure what I should do next... I want to see the flower but there's nowhere for it to go... will it open under water?
  5. I slid another report cover on the top of the divider and then siliconed a piece of canvas to that, it hangs over both sides about 3 inches. It also helps to keep the divider straight. Be careful the ends of the guard don't hang in the water though, my first one did and one of the bettas shredded his dorsal fin really badly on it. It also helps to keep the water about an inch from the top.
  6. Wow... you were doing some serious SHOPPING!!!
  7. I just got this plant yesterday and I was a little worried that the conditions in my low tech tank might not be right for it. Apparently it is very happy! The flower in the picture was not there yesterday... this morning it was just a little shoot maybe an inch, it's now about 10 inches! -ham- Just thought I'd share... no one else I know cares!! LOL Here's a crappy shot of the whole tank...
  8. Thanks for sharing! What kind of fish are those in the first pic? Looks like a tetra but not any I've seen before.... awesome colours!
  9. Heh... Andy thinks he's going to beat me Garhan!! :boxer: :flex:
  10. Nice! That grrlie betta is a cutie!! This might be a dumb question, but what kind of fish is that in your signature? It's stunning!!
  11. Bettas are serious jumpers... I have a 3 inch 'bounce guard' on either side at the top of my divider. They are also extremely good at wedging into tight places, 'specially when there's a fight to be had on the other side, the divider needs to be tight to the glass.
  12. http://www.aquariumstands.net/ The pictures on the site are a little hard to see and don't do the stands justice, I have seen them in person and they are GORGEOUS!!
  13. Yeah, it's a very cheap and easy way to make dividers. The most expensive part is the silicon.
  14. I made dividers for my betta tanks with clear plastic canvas that I got from Michael's Craft store, I think a sheet of it was 25 cents. I siliconed report cover spines to the sides and then just slid the canvas in. Works great and is super cheap!
  15. Here is a recent picture of Boo-Boo my 12 y/o c*cker spaniel... You'd never know his mommy was a groomer by looking at him, he really needs a haircut! LOL Apparently c-o-c-k-e-r is a bad word!!!
  16. Lookin' good Josh!!
  17. Yup the glowing eyes added a lot!! LOLOL Awww the Labradoodle is CUUUUTE!!! Or is it a Goldie/Poodle Cross? Are they non-shedding? Does their hair just keep growing requiring clips or what? I'm asking because I'm a dog groomer, small breeds only now and have never actually seen one in person...
  18. Yeah... SURE he is.... suuuurrrrreeee... <_< J/K, that's a hilarious picture!!
  19. I have 2 bristlenoses, a male and a female, that I got from Oxquo. They are about 5 inches and 3.5 inches respectively. They did an awesome job of cleaning up the algae in my tank but now I'm concerned they aren't getting enough nutrition since they did their jobs so well! I have driftwood in the tank which the male never comes out from under... I swear I can count on one hand the number of times I've seen him! I put in a piece of zucchini squash every few days that they seem to like but was wondering what else would be good for them? I also put large sinking wafers but I have no idea if they actually eat those! I don't want them to starve but I DO want them to keep on with the cleaning and they are so shy I would never know they were starving until it was too late I think. Suggestions welcome!!
  20. GAWD!!!! Put a warning up... JEEZ man what are you trying to do to me!!!!???!!! I was soooo not expecting THAT... I jumped back from the computer like it was on fire!! Those are some scary @$$ UGLY fish!!
  21. Nope, you're not cheap Rob... that's called smart! As long as it's good and clean and you're sure it's not from anyplace that might be contaminated with pollution or pesticides etc, it's a good way to go... I would do that too if I knew where to find some good pieces.
