  1. The tank stand is up, and I am just waiting on the 25 Gal to cycle (kind of because I don't really need it for the process), so I will be making some progress soon!
  2. Would anyone else like a monthly PotM contest?
  3. Well I helped you plan the damn thing... so of course it will be a truely marvelous set-up!!
  4. I don't think this is too complicated, but that slight change I was talking about- just pretend I never said anything about it. The Mekong River Biotope is in the 20 Gal, the Krishna River Biotope is in the 25 Gal, end of story. So I finished all my planning (I think) it's been very frushtrating, it was fairly easy to get accurate information on each of these ecosystems, but extremely hard to get any information on the habitat of Malabar Puffers, obvioulsy they come from Malabar, India, but I'm looking for information a LOT more specific than that! Anyways, here are my plans as they are (done I think): Krishna River (India) Biotope (25 Gal): Stocking: 3 Golden Panchax Killifish 3 Zebra or Common Spiny Loaches 4 Giant Danios Plants: Dwarf Hygrophila Water Wisteria Substrate: Brown Aquarium Sand (22 Lbs) Natural River Gravel Blend Decoration: River Rocks Filtration: Whisper 60 AquaClear 20 Powerhead Mekong River (Thailand) Biotope (20 Gal): Stocking: 3 Betta Splendens (1 Male, 2 Females) 1 Weather Loach 5 Glass Catfish 4 Java (Black Kuhli) Loaches Plants: Java Fern Dwarf Rotala Substrate: Light Brown Aquarium Sand Decoration: Driftwood (x2) Filtration: AquaClear 70 Fluval 4 There they are, many lomg hours were put into researching the regions to get accurrate information, I think it's pretty close
  5. Man I feel like puking after that roller-coaster ride of a post!!! Btw the lows were whenever someone else had a comment ! -roll-
  6. I'd like to point out that Toirtis DOES have 62 aquariums. That is all
  7. Well what about my pics in the Daily Photography area? Do they work?
  8. Thats quite strange, I can still see em, maybe it's cause I have the host computer
  9. Ok so there is a very slight change, since my Mekong River Biotope (the one that I was going to document in this journal) has a bit too much fish for a 20 Gal, so it will be going in my 25 Gal. This means that my Krishna River (India) Biotope will be going in the 20. Wich also means that this journal is changed to "20 Gal Krishna River Biotope Photo Journal". Ok so here is the stocking list (Mekong River Biotope list included): Krishna River (India) Biotope (20 Gal): 3 Golden Panchax Killifish 3 Zebra Loaches 4 Giant Danios Mekong River (Thailand) Biotope (25 Gal): 2 Badis 1 Weather Loach 5 Glass Catfish 4 Java (Black Kuhli) Loaches There are the lists, still waiting to get a stand, so nothing exciting will be done until I can get one!
  10. LOL, just two but lots of different plans! So for the Krishna River Plan: Krishna River (India) Biotope (25 Gal): 3 Golden Panchax Killifish 3 Zebra Loaches 4 Giant Danios I think the plan is complete, it will be loosly planted, live plants or not, I don't know.
  11. hmm... poop! Well the Giant Danios get pretty big for my tank, it's only 25 Gallons. About a month ago I would have said yes, I'll take 6 of em, but my Philosophy has really changed since then lol! Well, how many can I keep without getting close to overstocking, but still keeping them happy? I hear that Giant danios can be extremely aggressive, so I don't know wtf to do!
  12. I checked that damned Fishbase and it was so slooooow loading that I just said to hell with it!!!! -roll- Could I do some Zebra Danios? I think they are basically surface dwelling fish so maybe they wouldn't suit the purpose I need them for. They wouldn't be too boisterous for the Panchax would they? Rosy barbs get bigger than the Panchax will, I'm afraid I can't get them, maybe cherry barbs Yep it looks like those are pretty much my only two choices!
  13. Ok, three it is! Thanks very much, I have searched for long hours, but haven't really found any mid-level fish to fill in the blank between the loaches and the Killies. Any fish native to the Krishna river that are mid-level dwellers? They have to really be from the Krishna river, I'm done half-assing my aquarium plans now!!! -roll-
  14. I've done plenty of research in the last two days, and have decided to go with the Killifish and not the Rainbowfish. The only variable is the number of Golden Panchax I have, I don't know how many I can keep in my 25 Gallon tank. Heres the plan as it is (its quite short): Krishna River (India) Biotope (25 Gal): _ Golden Panchax Killifish 3 Zebra Loaches Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!
  15. Actually, I sent a friend a link and he couldn't see them either. He has a crappy computer -roll- . So if you have a crappy computer than that's probably why other wise, I haven't a clue.
  16. Well it's almost tommorow (11:23) so I guess I can post my new pics now, I'll probably edit and add more in the morn. Nice pics all of you! I've never owned Angels before, but if I was to, then I would definitely get some Altum Angels, they are so beautiful!!! That lungfish looks greeeat!! How big of a tank is he in? You probably know how I love to see those cichlids popeye!!! I didn't like Frontosas for the longest time, but now I love em!!!! Anyways here are my pics! (Just two for now)
  17. Hey and welcome to the site. I also hail from Spruce Grove! I think you'll find this site very helpful, and you can even make deals with others here, or get rid of stuff if you need to!!!!!!
  18. Prolly Puffers lol!!! Looking good already Jonah, can't wait to see it done!
  19. Ok so with regard to the killies, I would like to stock it with some Golden Panchax, I doubt the LFS will know whether they're male or female (I generally know more about fish than they, sad really), so how will I know the difference between male and female. When you talked about the dominant male killing the others, did you mean when there are females to mate with, or when there is just a group of all males. How many should I get? What other fish from the area can i get? I'd like to make each plan as foolproof and accurate as possible and then choose one for the tank.
  20. I've seen threads like this on other forums so I thought I should make one here I'm sure that this will be a daily thing for me now, I was already deeply into Wildlife photography, so once I started Aquatic Photography, I got right into it! It's a great hobby in my opinion, and anyone else who wants to share their pics on a daily basis (or once and a while) can post them here!!! Post any of your Aquarium photographs here, SW, FW, or Brackish. Cichlids, Cyprinids, Catfishes, Loaches, anything! All I ask is that you post appropriate pictures here, and if you want to post about someone's pics please do so, but add your own photos too, just to keep the photos flowing. Thanks :w00t: I'll start first: Happy snapping and hopefully posting!!!
  21. I think I have this Aquatic Photography business down! I checked all of the variables and manipulated everything that effects the quality of the picture and finally got some really nice pics. Enjoy! There they are, I think my photos have gotten alot better!!! I am happy!
  22. I'll take it into consideration, thanks. Well, I don't know what to do! The Golden Panchax Killies that I saw at AquaGiant were gorgeous, could I keep alot of them, or am a limited to one? If I can't keep many than I'll go with a shoal of Rainbows, but I like the look of the Panchax better than Neon Rainbows, maybe I'll have to count on impulse buying. next time I go there, I'll take a good long look at at each species. The tank's setup is between: Amazonian Biotope (25 Gal): 2 Bolivian Rams 4 Bronze Corydoras 2 Albino Corydoras 2 Otocinclus 1 Raphael/Talking catfish Or Australian/New Guinea Slow-moving Stream Biotope (25 Gal): A Choice of a Shoal of Spotted, Threadfin, Neon (Praecox), or Ornate Rainbowfish, as well as any of the Blue-eye variety of Rainbowfish. Or Tanganyika Killifish Biotope (25 gal): I don't know anything about the needs, habits, habitat, or really anything about killies!! Need to get some tips and do more research!
  23. Did some research on them and found that these are the species I can keep in my 25 Gallon aquarium. I have decided to do the Rainbowfish not the killies just because they appeal to me more, now both my tanks could be Asian Biotopes, well ones Australian I guess. But nothing is for sure, I already planned a planted community tank that wont be happening, so this Australian Biotope may not happen either. here is the start of it anyways: Australian/New Guinea Slow-moving Stream Biotope (25 Gal): A Choice of a Shoal of Spotted, Threadfin, Neon (Praecox), or Ornate Rainbowfish, as well as any of the Blue-eye variety of Rainbowfish. I still may use this tak for an Amazonian Biotope, as I just saw a tank full of Raphael Catfish and fell in love with them. I still have a bunch of cories that I am also fond of. I have 2 tanks but can only use one for the time being, I need a stand for the 25 Gal, and none of the Petstores in the area will take my fish, so I'm kinda screwed!
  24. Oh I wouldn't put any of these fish in a 10 Gal, I meant shell-dwellers when I said it, probably Neolamprologus hecqui and maybe Lamprologus stappersi/meleagris, they are gorgeous little guys!
