Usually the cheap generic brands are the safest.

I don't know where you would get the loaches, but I could give you some Ramshorn snails.

Water and non perfumed bleach should do the trick.

Have you tried weather loaches?

I found the tank divider knocked over and Miss Lumpy lying on the bottom of the tank this morning. I guess Rip wanted his tank back as she wouldn't spawn for him.

The Weathershield is from Home Hardware, not Home Depot. For black vinyl try a sign making shop or someone like AJ Decals off the ERAS forum.

Sorry guys good guesses but not those.

Bleach will evaporate on it's own, what was most likely in the tank was mineral deposit from hard water. If you want to test it fill it up and put a danio or other inexpensive fish in the tank to see how it responds.

Is this an hob or a cannister? What I can find listed as an Aquatech 200 is a cannister.

My understanding is that Regent or Penguin filters are the same though.

Would I have any issues with using a filter on my freshwater tank that has been used on saltwater?

There should be no issues with it as long as you clean it thoroughly first.

I use this from Home Hardware and Building supplies

You can also put a sponge over the intake of your powerfilter. This method is used to keep the fry and small fish from going up the intake.

The chlorine in Edmonton water is not the issue, as it will evaporate. However the chloramine they use will not.

I just close the aquastop valve, unscrew the cap and fill up the hose. Replace the cap, open the aquastop and the filter fills it self. Just be sure the discharge is out of the water when you do this.
