  1. Ok then I think I will try it when it gets a little warmer out. The pond has major circulation, 5 waterfalls and a ton of filters so they should be good on that end. We havent had a heron problem out here yet..knock on wood..and we live maybe 15 km out of the city. The tricky part is going to be catching them at the end of the season. Thanks Guys
  2. Just curious if anyone has had any luck with sticking a dempsey in an outdoor pond? THe water temp is 68 right now but it should get up some more in the next month since it gets full sun all day. Just curious if they would last out there?
  3. Thanks Guys, Yeah the lelupi fry didn't pan out so well in that tank, the Tropheops fry loved them though lol So now there's Tropheops macrophthalmus , Copadichromis borleyi (Kadango), Melanochromis cyaneorhabdos , Aulonocara sp. "Stuartgranti Maleri", and some other i can't remember the name. All are doin fine now, But yeah if you ever are thinking of moving lelupi fry to another tank, wait about 2 months, because they are soooo small for the first while.
  4. I'm sitting here trying to figure out if I should (or actually can) put new babies in my 10 gallon fry tank. Right now I've got 9 Tropheops macrothalmus about as long as the width of your fingernail (some smaller) which are about 3 weeks old. Right now I have 3 more spawns on the way and I'm just curious if the little tropheops will attack the poop out of the new fry? I've got Sunshine Peacocks, Melanochromis cyaneorhabdos, and Neolamprologus leleupi on the way in the next couple days. Should I set up another tank or will they all be fine in the same one?
  5. At first he wanted 40 bucks a peice but after talking to him for a bit :pff: he went down to 30 (60 for the pair) n yeah I still think its too expensive. The males about 3inch's n the females about 1.5, they've had about 4 batches of fry in the store but have'nt spawned for about a year (I think its just an overstocked aquarium now). Rahim101 if you've got some you want to sell pm me
  6. I want to purchase a proven breeding pair of Julidochromis Maleri from a local pet store and I think they want way too much, so I was just wonderin what a reasonable price would be for the pair? :eh:
  7. 2*4's on the outside would definatly add a ton of strength to the structure. What is the thickness of glass that your using?
  8. On both tanks there is a 3 inch border around the glass, I havent had any problems with the samller one bowing at all, but with the larger one I had to screw in a 9 inch peice of 3\4 in the middle top part to stop the bending. I've seen others use a cable that you can tighten to stop that, n i'd like to try that on the next one cause I think it would look a whole lot better. Yeah with plywood tanks you can build them and decorate them to suit your needs, I think there are many different finishes you can play around with, hardwood, tile, paint, stonework, metalwork, or even use a more expensive plywood like oak, cherry, ne of that shat would look incredible. Anyone else with a plywood tank should post a flick cause the only other ones I've seen are on the GARF website, so hook us up to see what others have done
  9. N here's the most recent, instead of leaving just a plywood finish I decided to mosiac the whole thing and it turned out pretty decent. 4ft long * 23 wide * 16 high
  10. k j-rock heres the first aquarium I tried my hand at its 8ft long * 24 wide * 17 high I used potable epoxy from Cloverdale Paints (which was the only place in Medicine Hat that carried any type of potable epoxy). The paint was quite expensive at 74 bucks a gallon, we're gettin a home depot so I hope i can find it cheaper there. I think the 1/4 inch glass sheet ran me about 60, and the 3/4inch plywood another 75 bucks. Then all the other stuff which was silicone, screws, glue, sandpaper, lighting was around 100. So if anyone out there is considering building a plywood tank  go for it cause its fairly easy to build (if you have another hand to help) and the cost is relativley low as opposed to buying a glass or acrylic tank. 180 Gallon Plywood
  11. Can anyone offer a little help on how to post images? I'll bow down to the person who sheds some light on this shat. thanks
  12. Ja J-Rock I'll have those flicks on tonight sometime, anyone else in here from Med Hat? Just curious.
  13. Been browsin your site for a few months and thought now would be a good time to join lol My main interest is in cichlids and I dont really have anything else. My larger tanks are all plywood w/epoxy coating, 180g n 80g, and all the others are glass, 3 10's, 2 5's, 1 33. The fish I'm keepin at the moment are: 5 kenyii 3 microchromis zebroid 3 convict 3 electric yellow 2 dolphin 2 deepwater haps 2 girraffe 2 kadango 2 sunshine peacock 2 dempsey 2 pakastani (yoyo) loach 2 plecos 1 electric blue 1 auratus 1 black oscar ANd thats that soo a big "HELLO" to everyone out there n if you wonderin what the name stands for its W C H F S U O L E U H P R A R N I K S o K T I S s I N N
