What types of things are you looking for?
Chaeto, live rock, livestock....just seeing what is out there. :hey:
-
I'm starting up a saltwater tank again....anyone near Red Deer got anything they're looking to get rid of?
Thanks. :smokey:

Long time, no see.

Yes, it would be a group order.

1. Go to the top of your screen, and click on "My Controls".
2. On the left side, under the Personal Settings, click on "Edit Profile Information".
3. Change "Custom member title".
That's it, just keep it appropriate.

If only I had the power to change it to "leech".
-
OMG, that's funny....I never thought about that. lol

A chiller is basically an airconditioner for your tank. Keeps the water temp down so the critters don't fry. Do a web search and you'll find lots of them. Have fun with it. I've thought about it too, but have decided that the fat man likes lobster too much, mmmmm lobster.
You could keep it for the next few months. Put the tank in your unheated garage with a heater to keep the water from freezing.

Congrats on a more difficult cichlid to breed.

Usually when they are spit, if others are near there is only one or two that survive.

Glad to hear the little ones are okay.
Dressers should be screwed to the wall anyway if you wish to be cautious. I didn't until my 5 year old at the time locked my 1 year old at the time in a room by toppling the dresser when she wanted to move it. Yikes.
As for cats, we came home one day to find a huge pddle on the carpet seeping out from under the dresser. Damm, must be a leak. Took the tank (which had no cover) down, pulled the dresser off (one of those ones that sits on the floor with space underneath it). I figured the water was seeping out from behind the dresser.
Hmm, no water under the dresser. No water behind the dresser, or around the tank. Hmmm, water stain on the wall, behind and ABOVE the dresser?
And to top it off....no leaking tank.
Figure the cat must have launched himself onto the top of the tank (remember there wasn't a cover? I knew that - cat didn't). Splash from his cannonball must have flew onto the wall, and the mess out front would have been the second wave coming to the front of the tank and from the cat who probably landed back on the carpet about .7586 seconds after breaking the surface of the water.

Kyle - please accept my condolences. Such a great loss....
For those of you not aware, Kyle (African_Fever) worked with Stuart for a while a few years back.

the betta will just get exhausted dragging his fins around and give up.
Think of chasing someone around in a very large and wide dress.

This wouldn't be turning into a venor review, would it?
Keep it on track, please.

Looks great. Now you just need to construct a "tornado room" underneath it, kinda like Snoopy's doghouse.....it'll be the only thing left standing.
-
If you have room, removing them for a break and to put on some weight is always a good idea if they are not getting a chance to eat in between three week holding sessions.

You've got some nice specimens there.

I crept up on my tank with a flashlight last night; I was watching all the different pods scurrying around (quite entertaining, try it sometime if you haven't already), and I started to shine the flashlight into all the little hidey-holes in the rock. Then I saw something move in the cracks, slowly sheltering itself from the light...
Something big.
And spiderlike.
I have at least two enormous crabs in my tank. Possibly more. Their carapaces alone are at least 2 inches wide, definite fish-killer size. They have all the supposed earmarks of 'dangerous' crabs, too... hairy carapace, dark pincers. I'm stunned that I've had all the rock in my tank for at least ten months (no coral additions since four months ago), and yet these things have escaped my notice. I scrubbed down all my rock too, very carefully, and never saw any crabs.
I've heard of tipping a baited beer glass to catch them, but I don't have a DSB, so I'm not sure I'll catch much more than my hermits and bristleworms. Should I try to bait them out? They don't seem to move very fast, but I remember thinking that about my brittle star before I scared him for the first time... Any other suggestions?
Borrow my moray eel? :smokey:

That would be cool, but there's over a 1000of us now...

Excellent price for Rocky Frank - nice score.

Yup, that sounds right. However, certain groups of mbuna you might NOT want that many...depends on what you're planning to toss in there.

and why would I be I plan on having such a dangerous fish that was more suited for a man.
I reeeaaally wish more women would pound the snot out of guys like this.

Thanks, but I have a good supply of base rock. The "live rock" that I have (and not trying to get into semantics here) is devoid of all life except the bacteria, as it was "cooked" before starting up the tank.
So it'd be nice to get some pod-infested macroalgae or something along that lines....a cup of live sand, etc.
