What J said. I do 90 % changes once or twice a week on overstocked raise-out tank. I would suggest fish from lakes, especially Tanganyka, do not tolerate massive water changes as well.

Check connections on the in side of the hoses for air leaking into the filter.

Be sure that he materials used for the liner and such are not treated with an algaecide, something to inhibit mould, or other chemicals. My guess is that Canadian Tire personnel don't know if the materials are treated or not.

If you're interested in how water from the North Saskatchewan River is treated by different municipalities for their use, the Edmonton Journal today started a 4 part series on this topic.

One problem with this type of system is if one of the siphons gets clogged enough to slow, or completely stop the flow.

Nothing wrong with duckweed ....i might need to thin my crop out also.
Great for nitrate sucking. Usually a curse for filters but if intake low in tank no issues. ...deadly on overflows on sumps though lol. So I'll bring a special bag just for rayfong
