  1. I would use it to breed snails for your Green Spotted Puffer in your new 30 gallon tank.
  2. Bought a used 55 gallon tank and had a seam blow about 3/4 of the way down. Removed trim. removed panel of glass, repaired as above. Started because I thought I could cheap out and could't quit as I had started but would never do it again. Sometimes money is worth more than time, plus had to get new trim.
  3. I picked up a 72" X 24" piece of 3/8" non tempered from my local glass shop, $130. Plan to make a plywood and glass tank soon as the weather smartens up.

Check out your local used building supplier or, in season, yard sales to find an old storm window of suitable size, $5-20. Cut the glass to the proper dimensions of your tank, being an eighth of an inch shy on the width. Cut the glass in half and silicone a strip of tire tube (well washed, inside up) along the cut to act as a hinge. Silicone a marble or seashell onto the front piece to use for a handle. For lights, use a piece of raingutter with 2 endcaps for the housing, paint the inside white, and mount a vho or pc flourescent light and ballast. Not counting lights, you should be able to set up both for under $40 and a couple hours labor.
