  1. Howdy, it took me a few attempts to log in but I remembered my password. It said my last log in was in 2011, how time flies. I had a 200+ gallon tank with cichlids at the time. Been out of the hobby since 2011. Relocated to Cranbrook B.C. We're just finishing a major renovation and we have room for a nice sized tank. Eventually id like to track down another 200g tank & sump system any get back into the cichlids.
  2. Yes I flushed everything. since this started I have disconected the sump and done a water change. I now have the old filter system up and runing again. On 3 of the threded joints I used yellow teflon tape, do you think this could be a problem?? The base of the pectoral fins are turning red. It was a scary night, Before I went to bed it looked like I was going to loose a good portion of my stock. Had a look this morning. To my surprise I only lost 1.
  3. I built a sump for my cichlid tank. Used the white pvc. glued a few of the joints where needed. started it up and within an hour the fish were laying on the bottom, roling on there side a bit. I am sure that everything I used was for potable water. the glue had over a week to dry. Some of the fish were near the surface. What do you think may be the problem????
  4. my new kodak Z740 workes great. smiliekells75/100_0029.jpg' alt='100_0029.jpg'>
  5. My first pics with my new kodak z740. wow this camera is great!java script:emoticon('') smilie
  6. I was moving my 45 g sump. hit the back and ended up with a 7 inch crack. What to do now I thought?? I had some .25 inch glass so I cut a patch just a bit larger that the crack. Traced the crack with crazy glue on the outside, then apply crazy glue to the patch and stuck it in place.hold for five. then use a small amount of aquarium safe silicone on the inside. been working great for a while now. Wouldnt do this on a show tank but it kept me up and running.
  7. for a bit more surface movement I attached a small air pump to my powerhead. it forces air into the jet stream. Workes great for me.
  8. I am building a sump for my own tank. Was looking around the net and found this site.It is in 3 parts. I found it usefull. www.reefkeeping.com
  9. ops the tank is about 200 g I will be using about 1 3/4 or 2 "
  10. I just built a sump out of an old 45 gallon tank I had . What type of pump do you recomend. tank about 5 ft high from sump.
  11. I dug this rock out of the hill side in the crowsnest pass. It was in slabs, also in bolders. Not sure if it is slate or shale. It was across from the lake where the big pullout is.
