    Tank builders

Does anyone have contact information for "Bow Valley (Mitch) or Gary". I tried searching for Bow Valley and found a couple different phone numbers but no one answers. And I don't have a clue how to reach Gary. Any help is appreciated. Thanks! Jeff I think they went under the name cameron management?
  3. Red Tailed Giant Gourami? Maybe?
  4. Do you take any pics after it broke?
  5. Those backgrounds don't go 30" high so they won't work. I just painted it as my fish splash lots and I didn't feel like cleaning the water stain behind the background all the time.
  6. The cost of the tank was $3200,double overflow left and right side $150,sump $250,stand $450 and pump, plumbing, accessories on top of that. Don't forget I live 1 1/2 hrs away and it was built in my basement. Pretty good deal I would say!!!! They have been here 3 times already and will be coming for a forth to repair it.
  7. Does anybody know where a person can buy a ecotech marine vortec pump for a good price online?
  8. The came and finished the tank and sump tonight and here are some pics. Now I need someone to plumb it and I have to figure what I am going to do for lighting and background?
  9. Salt water would be nice but I don't have the time since I have 4 other tanks.
  10. Are those prices pick up only? Mine was and is being built right one site. Tank with overflows $3200.00
  11. Gives the aros some room from anybody at the bottom. I was going to go 36" high but then its hard to reach the bottom of the tank for maintenance and arranging. It would have been nice to go 4 ' wide but it would have stuck out to far from the wall. If I started throwing furniture out of the basement to make room for tanks I wouldn't be to popular with my wife. LOL LOL
  12. It's 8' x 3' x 30" high. I have about 75 fish in my other tanks but I will probably throw my 4 Black arowanas in it and my breeding oscars, uarus and yellow jackets. I also have cuban cichlids and some Dovii that might go in . But then again I might just put some stingrays in the tank with the aros. The only thing for sure is the aros.
  13. What kind of screen do you have on your overflows? It looks black is it the white egg crate plastic just painted or did they use something else? Just curious as I just had mine done and it's white egg crate plastic but black looks better.
  14. They just came and did the tank today. The 120 gallon sump didn't fit under the stand so they are going to modify it. They are coming back next week to put the braces and trim on the tank. I have been waiting since October for this to be started so hopefully it won't be too much longer. Here is what we have so far. 05/25/08 Braces and trim complete! 06/30/08 Well I put on 7 coats of paint and two coats of clear coat on the back. I dry fitted the plumbing first and then glued everything together. I started to fill it up last week to see if there was any leaks in the plumbing etc.. and this happened! We are not sure of the cause but they are going to fix it. I don't want to speculate on the problem but I am glad it's going to be fixed. It's going to take about 4 to 5 hrs to fix , plus all the plumbing has to come off the side. So it's the waiting game again. Here are some pics of it starting to fill up and then the pic of the problem. At first I thought it was pulling apart but after I drained it looked like its a crack down the side. 08/07/08 The tank is done and running! I plugged in the 4 heaters and it didn't take long to blow the breaker. I knew I might have some problems as my big screen tv,180 gallon and home theatre system run off the same breaker as the 450 gallon. I will have to call a electrician to see what he can do. 08/08/13 Electrician came and wired a new plug in with it's own breaker for the tank. One thing I know for sure from all this experience is nothing goes as planned and there is lots to setting up a big tank.
  15. I guess I should have mentioned it's the female with the white band.
  16. Williewonka, here are the pair of lents I had and the difference in the male and female. See the difference in the dorsal fin. The male also grows faster and bigger then the female.
  17. It shouldn't be to long before they give me a call to come and build my 450 gallon tank. I already have my stand in place. My question is I want to leave my tank close to the wall but I won't be able to get behind the tank to clean the glass when it gets water stained. Should I forget about a scenery background and paint it or should I go with a scenery background and leave the tank out so I can get behind it to clean the glass? If you need to know I am probably going try and breed my 3 black arowanas in it and have a few stingrays in the bottom.
  18. Well I am sad to say that I have lost all my prized fish in one day. I lost 14 fish in total including 8 to 15 yr old clown loaches, peacock bass,25 inch black arowana.C.lents,jumbo fire eel etc. On a side note I had ordered a 450 gallon tank just for these fish and already have the stand in the basement. I should be getting a call any day now for when they are comming to build the tank in my house. All for nothing now as the fish I wanted to put in the 450 gallon tank have died. All that remained was 2 albino oscars,2 yellow jackets, royal pleco and a sailfin pleco. Now what do I do with an empty 450 gallon tank?
  19. Here are some pics of my four yellow jackets. There is at least one pic of each and some of them there are two pics. Any suggestions on sexing? There sizes range around 6 to 7 inches. A couple are beat up a bit due to some other aggressive fish in the tank. I have split them up and put two in a 180 gallon and left two in the 230 gallon. The two in the 180 gallon don't seem to want to pair up but they don't beat on each other either. The other two in the 230 gallon aren't doing anything either but that could be due to the chaos in the tank. Can't wait for that 450 gallon.
  20. I just got the confirmation on when they will be coming to my house to build my 450 gallon tank. Just 3 to 4 weeks away!!! I have a couple of questions for everyone. What size sump should a person have for a 450 gallon tank? I am going with a 120 gallon and outside silent overflow boxes on the sides of the 450 gallon. I am going to use 2 Ecotech marine vortech propeller powerheads @ 3000 gph x2. Does any one else know of any simliar powerheads for up to or over 5/8 glass thickness? I am going with 2 mag drive 1800 pumps for the sump. Thats 1800 gph x2. For lights I am going with either two 4' Tek light T5 or two 4' double bulb coralife flourescent. I am not sure how many bulbs in the tek lights yet. It's either 4,6 or 8 bulb. If anybody else has any ideas for powerheads, pumps, lights, heaters etc.Just post them for me. THANKS FOR THE HELP P.S. Most of these fish and maybe a couple more from another tank will be going in.
  21. I got some Yellow Jackets also! (Parachromis friedrichsthalii) I think I have 3 males and 1 female. Here is a pic of a couple.
  22. I bought a piranha at the local fish store about 2 weeks ago. It was labeled black piranha and I asked if it was a rhombeus. They didn't know and looked at a piranha book and told me it was. They tried to call the supplier but he was not in at the time. I went back a week later asking if they knew where it was collected from and if they were sure it was a rhombeus. They got a hold of the supplier and he said it was collected in Peru and it was indeed a rhombeus. Well I posted pics on the net at a different site and they all agreed it was not a Rhombeus but in fact it was a Sanchezi. I told the lfs what I had found out. They were nice to agree to take it back and apologized. They said they were just going by what the supplier had told them. So when buying a Black Piranha make sure it's the one you want!!! I am now buying a 6" rhombeus from B.C. and it's being shipped on Sunday. I'll post pics after I get it. In the mean time here is some pics of the the Sanchezi the so called Black Piranha(rhombeus). P.S. The reason I am not keeping it is due to it only attaining a size of 6" The rhombeus can get up to 24". Not that's a show fish.
  23. The clowns are about 6 to 7 inches.
  24. Did you have a female and did it grow very slow? My females are so slow growing that they seem like they are stunted, even thought they are in a 180 gallon tank.
  25. Here are some old pics of the Cubans I got from Golds. They have gotten bigger since these photos where taken. I had seven and downsized to 2 males and 3 females. Nothing has paired up yet but they will be moving from a 180 gallon to a 230 gallon in about a months time.
