  1. Val, If you want to get rid of some, let me know. Thanks, Leon
  2. $25 US from Big Als, but $54.99 CAD here. Nice meter, but twice the price? WTF? There is a serious problem with Canadian distributors.
  3. Just an after thought. I am thinking of adding some eggcrate from the first over/under baffle to the top of the tank. Just to keep any chaeto etc. in the fuge area. Any thoughts from the pros? Leon
  4. The guys name is Neil. He has an add on Kijiji. I paid $225. Pm me if you want his number.
  5. I just picked up my new 50 gal sump. Actually it should hold 35 gal max. I had it built by a local guy on the southside of Edmonton. Here's a few pics.
  6. Not to hijack the thread, but where do you get 10 gal pails with screw on lids?
  7. JFYI. I use T5 HO 36" x4 in my canopy of my 150 gal. You can buy them at All Seasons Garden centre with bulbs for $40/each. A lot less power usage for really good light.
  8. Jerry, I joined Canreef this morning. Are you talking about the dry rock from Eco-reefer or the EcoLiveRock site?
  9. Thanks for the info Jerry. I will have to check out Canreef for more details. I have looked at the SWC 160 skimmer at BigAls. The reviews look good and a lot of "bang for the buck" factor. Anyone on here using these?
  10. Definitely looking at EcoLiveRock as well. What a great idea. It looks like they have a distibutor in B.C.
  11. I know I haven't been on here a lot lately. All the Africans are doing well, and I was too busy developing the basement. Now that it is almost finished, I have decided to give saltwater a try. I bought a 120 Perfecto with a corner overflow. I will be custom building the stand and canopy. I also purchased the 4 lamp T5HO from AquaticLife. I hope to find a good tank for the sump. Something with a 36"x18" footprint. Now I need suggestions on: -Skimmer brand and size -Return pump brand and size -All Live rock vs. some live and some base rock -Sump layout. I have some idease from the net, but it's cool to see other ideas. That's all for know. Future questions on stocking and compatibility to follow. Thanks, Leon
  12. I am running three 1200's for undergravel jets and I have had one impeller fail. This was after about three years in service. I do agree that they are not very strong. And to buy a new impeller is not cheap. I usually wait for the Boxing Day sales, and pick up a couple new units for close to the same price.
  13. I run an FX5 on my 150gal malawi tank. No problems keeping up to an overstocked tank. I also have under-gravel-jets, so that might make a difference.
  14. Make it at least 1" bigger in width and length of the tank. It will give you room to put trim around the edges.
