  2. Nice score BlackMumba! Can't wait for pictures. Patrick's going to be busy.
  3. With eheims i find some people reccomend that they just inject directly into the filter. As i've heard a few complaints about the rex reactor for being loud .
  4. Hey guys just got a new starphire rimless 14x12x10, so i err , need hardscape suggestions . GOT IT TODAY SOOOO EXCITED Will be an emersed set up for the first 3-4, been planning this forever, anyways here's pics: I also have these two rocks to work with on the side, any suggestions? Alright here's an update, after playing around here are a few scapes : Settled for this : Comments, suggestions, welcome.
  5. Tank is gone. anyways i just scooped it all up with my hand and plopped it in ;p . Also @ catshannon i should have a few loose strands for you .
  6. Man he was really helpful, and helped find what i needed to set up my 33g, and i stopped by every week or so, that's a shame. Best of lucks to him !
  7. Wild bettas could also be other species aside from B. Splendens .
  8. Don't know if anyone else is having problems seeing hte pictures. I can't seem to see your pictures ;( .
  9. I might try it out with CO2, but the thing is i only tried HC with excel which was inconsistent, and perhaps with DIY CO2 it might work better not sure. One thing for sure is i'll be trying HC with pressurized CO2 in the future. Advantage to this method is, i just had to spray it every few days, and that's about it, since light is preset on a timer. Anyways i need a bit of help transferring the innards of this tank over ot the new tank , how can i approach it?
  10. Sorry about the dating error in the picture . but an update though.
  11. Nice progress ! Once that HC fills it should look nice ! Have you considered getting a background ?
  12. Indeed, wow those starphire glass tanks look nice. He must be very happy he didn't go with the ADA Equivalent tank/stand like his original plan which would have ended up costing him more. Hope this turns out really good Devon, you've been planning it for a long time, so good luck!
  13. Which home depot did you hit up ? I'd like some of those pipe bending services as well .
  14. Wow that's a huge difference than the west side OxyPro quoted me when i called them.
  15. For diffusing it, and going pressurized, and a canister filter, an inline CO2 diffusor works best. Here's a common one: http://www.rexgrigg.com/diy-reactor.htm Also the regulators from him are excellent. If that won't cut it for you another common option is the milwaukee regulator, which isn't the greatest, i have one myself but haven't gotten around to play with it yet due to not having found a CO2 Cylinder. http://www.petsandponds.com/en/aquarium-su.../p17160403.html As for cylinders, i've looked around , and seems like prices have gone up. I was asked for $125 for a 5lb cylinder filled @ OxyPro , and $175 for a 10lb cylinder filled . Also natures price for the 10lb as quoted was aorund $180-190, but these are the lighter, prettier aluminum ones. Unless i can find a 5lb cylinder for lesser or equal to than $100 filled, i won't be biting the bullet myself. Good luck wit hthe search.

    CO2 Cylinders

OxyPro - 5lb filled - $125. 10lb - $175. My response: NO! I'd would rahter buy the nice one Henry carries at Natures, but he said he didn't have any instock. Anyways my budget is $110 max for a 5lb cylinder.
  17. Schoolers, tight schoolers, like Boraras Maculatus are great. I never had them but i fell in love with them when i saw them at Natures.
  18. It's about time you've posted this. I've been raring to come over and take a look at the thing ! Also i just saw this thread that i'm basing my own coming iwagumi off of: http://www.plantedtank.net/forums/tank-jou...-iwagumi-2.html Says that bigals has some zebra rock, and if you can find larger chunks it would be nice. Also you're looking for seiryuu stone, as i saw posted on 3-4 other forums months ago, if you can land that stuff then well, it would be perfect IMO. Also with iwagumis their filtration requirement is much more like a regular tank rather than a planted tank due to it's more open nature, so i think the 2215 should be fine, as it's all carpet plants, so more of the water could disperse pretty well, but keep in mind the PVC inline CO2 reactor will take a chunk off the flow ( also i'm looking to make one ... ) , as well as the inline heater. Also note about the ADA Tanks: The newer ones now use (i think) opti-white glass which is similar in quality to starphire tanks. But i'd rather support a local business than an overcharging rich Japanese man that sells dirt for insanely high prices. Good luck with the tank (: !
  19. In Walstad's book she notes that she uses them only for water flow purposes. Also once your 60 gallon is up and established, and heavily planted, i doubt you would need a filter for the purposes of filtering, rather just for the purpose of nutrient distribution. In my 33gallon, until i get hte XP3 installed, i'm running just a single 100gph powerhead which is enough to tide me over for now, and so far everything is working out .

    CO2 Cylinders

I called Henry about a month ago, didn't have any cylinders at the time.
  21. Some mosses tend to grow in a more tangly java moss like form when left floating and will only achieve their true shape after getting tied down.
  22. Welcome to Alberta, and AlbertaAquatica. Though the coldness will keep you at home more as a warning, but as a side effect you're going to have to spend time with your fish tanks ;P .

    CO2 Cylinders

I've been looking around for a 5-10lb tank, i've called around welding stores, and the prices i've recieved aren't too ... errr.... Anyways anyone know of any good places to get a 5-10lb Cylinder for a decent price?
  24. Good job Black Mumba! I still have to get a few bettas from you one of these days!
