  1. https://www.wholesalepumps.com/beckett-m250as-auto-shutoff-290-gph/ This is an interesting one with a shutoff built into the pump.  I'm not entirely liking the salt water options I have found as a float valve could potentially have roots grow into it. Also I'm not topping off, I am trying not to run dry.

Edit: the pump has incredibly terrible reviews https://www.homedepot.com/p/Beckett-250-GPH-Auto-Shut-Off-Fountain-Pump-M250AS/204670887

  2. I installed a sump for my freshwater aquarium. My trees now enjoy watering from my tank and cycling back into the tank.  But, due to evaporation I fear the sump could potentially run dry while the pump is still going. In about 9 months I will be away for a few weeks. Is there some sort of pump shut off switch? I am sure there must be some pumps with this switch built-in?

  3. I've got a large betta male and female. I'm not seeing much on the female in way of breeding colors. And when I did see it, she may have been too dark for the male to notice. I have them in a 10g tank separated by a screen. The male also has shown no interest in making a nest. Advice to get them more interested in each other?

  4. have not tested them in some time. when I used the cherry tomato plant it was always as good as perfect, to be honest probably starving the plant a bit. However I suspect this heirloom one is not eating as much. I also don't have the same light I used to which was the solarmax horticulture ones. at the moment I'm using a cheap e-bay one.

  5. it works really well. I removed the cherry tomoto plant and replaced it with a heirloom one. however I'm not getting large tomatos and not as many as I was. it could be the light. however the plant is huge.

  6. Roots don't rot at all. Have not tested nitrates in some time, the water evaporates and I do a change. temp is around 80F. Yes it is an Archer with the clowns. I started the seed in mud pretty much. constantly flowing water through the mud.

A while ago I was thinking about the cost of drift wood and how nice it would be to just have a tree growing in the tank. Almond leaves being very popular I wondered how having an actual living almond tree in with 40 clown loaches would effect the aquarium.
