  1. ive had my clown loach for almost a year, and he hasn't grown since ive gotten him... and the previous owner said he's had the loach for almost a year too... so that's two year old loach.. and he's still the same size... and i have a 70gal tank that my clown loach can go into when he gets too big (if and when that happends)   i love my clown loach, he's soo fun to watch....
  2. so if i take the gourami out? are the rest of the fish ok?
  3. the gourami is quite large (i would save even close to 6inches) will that play factor in any? from what ive read, the tiger barbs (as long as you get 5+) should only school by themselves and don't usually bother bigger fish?
  4. i picked up a fluval 305 on the weekend, and i havn't had any problems with the unit yet... altho ive only had it for about 4 days now..... hopfully i get a good unit... i would hate for it to leak tho.. that would suck big time!!!
  5. right now i currently have 40gal tall aqaurium with a Eclipse 3 system and a fluval 305 as well for added filtration 1 gourami (5') 1 clown loach (3') 1 albino cory (1.5') 1 chinese algae eater (4') 2 bristle nosed algae eater (3.5') i was wondering if i could add 10-15 tiger barbs into the tank? what do you guys think?
  6. thanks for the reply, i really hope they are just getting use to the area too!
  7. humm i'll keep my eye on the fish, until i start seeing aggression towards each other. otherwise i'll have to put the Gold Gourami in a small 3 gallon tank, or try to sell it. which is WAYYY too small for him/her (idonno the sex) , but its the only other tank i have.
  8. so far, the temps have been stable at 23–26 °C (76–78 °F). and i only have a ammonia/ph reader, and right now its very very close to zero, and the ph looks to be 7.6-7.8. i don't have a nitrate nitrite reader, but i think i'll pick one up today... also i did notice that late at night when its dark.. and i walk into the room and turn on the lights.. they are swimming around, but then they immediately run and hide.. and i don't think i'll be putting my guppies in the tank, because i bought 10 guppies and now im down to 6 (3 went missing"eatten probably", 1 got stuck in the filter tube)
  9. thanks guys, ive added more fake plants in there too to add ... i can't wait to go to the river again and pick up more rock so i can get rid of that marble on the right.. or maybe even pick up some drift wood.. that would be nice too!! i'll keep this thread updated! this hobby is soo addictive
  10. really? hummm then i guess i'll have to find another tank for the fish, or sell it?!?!?! because i have another tank with a silver gourami and some guppies and gold fish, but he keeps on beating up on the silver Gourami and the other fish. In the cichlid tank, there hasn't been any aggression towards each other? Is there just 1 electric yellow in the tank? and no other cichlids? i have 9 electric yellow in the tank and the one gold gourami

  12. ionno it seems to me that they are getting along i havn't noticed any aggressiveness towards the other fish, they swim together like they are friends  its been a couple of days, but i'll watch them and see how it goes thanks guys for the help
  13. my aunt gave me about 10 of her yellow electric cichlids to start off my 70gallon tank, and ive noticed that they always hide in the tank when i walk by, they are never swimming around. i try to watch them because i find watching fish is relaxing, and they are always hiding when im there? is this normal? i wonder if they think im ugly?!?! lol jk! this is what they looked like the first two days (they were active and sorta swimming around) but now all they do is hide in the cracks and rocks?? (note: i removed the guppies from the tank and put them in another tank i have)
  14. about a month ago, my dad picked up this fish, he didn't know what it was called, just thought it looked cool, im new to the aquarium world and i don't know myself which types of fish it is. can you help me name this fish? MY FISH its the fish behind the electric yellow fish.
