If your budget allows, try co2 & metal halide - every once in a while you'll see c02 gear & some of the 75w and 150w "clip on" nano tank lights pretty cheap on the various buy&sell forums. You'll find the results quite amazing, unfortunately the downside is they run very hot.. Not recommended if there are young kids or cats in the house...

Hey Martin, why would you want to store the water?

I've kept tropical, planted (MH + CO2) and recently saltwater.. My last project was a 29 gallon nano coral tank. Now, I'm looking to setup a planted tank & try raising the pricey Red Crystal Shrimp.
