  1. All of the other fish in the tank are between 3.5 - 4 inches long, where as Barry is only about 2.5 inches. They all around 2 inches when they went in, but he has barely grown. He seems healthy, none of the other fish pick on him , thank god. Is he going to be fine on his own in the tank, being the only one of his size and species?
  2. That is kind of what i figured........ any other suggestions? i would like to have one larger fish of interest....... just need to make sure everyone can be happy:)
  3. If I added a blue dolphin, could we get away with adding only one or do they prefer to have strength in numbers?
  4. Do you have any other tanks running? We used filter media from another tank to help cycle our tank. It worked beautifully. Once we added the fish we dosed faithfully with stability.Out of 12 fish we lost one, but not until anout 2 months after addidg them.
  5. When we first purchased this little guy he was bought as a kenyi. We bought 4 that were all the same size, this guy we were told would definately be a male as his coloration was a dirty yellowish color already. However all of our blue kenyi's are yellow but this guy has not grown at all. Nobody bugs him yet, but he is half the size of any other fish. I have my doubts that he is indeed a kenyi, any thoughts?
  6. So if i had to say what I had sex wise it would be as follows Electric yellows- 2 male /2 female Red zebras- either all male or 3 male 1 female As far as the kenyi........ they all turned yellow, but one is way smaller than the others and his bars or stripes extend into his fin. I have thought from the beginning that maybe he isnt kenyi. What would you suggest to add in to the mix? /
  7. Our kenyi we believe to be all male as they have all turned from blue to yellow. As for the zebra and the labs we aren't exactly sure. ALthough I am fairly sure than one of the labs may be holding. We are thinking to definately add blue but also maybe a couple of other interesting species as well if possible . Thanks for your reply
  8. My husband and I are thinking about converting our 90 gallon Tropical to a Malawi tank. Our Cichilds have been in the 46 bowfront since they were very young. We currently house, 4 electric yellows, 4 red zebra, and 3 kenyi which appear to be all males. If we do the tank switch, adding a few new cichlids is definately the plan. Does anybody have any suggestions?
  9. Hey its good to see another Lethbridge reefer. We too have a number of tanks on the go but at the moment only one saltwater. What do you got for mbunas? We also have a mbuna tank and I think they may be breeding, have yours bred? what is your plan for your 20sw?
  10. He is super cool but he is too big for our tank , and I would like to get into corals
  11. New to the hobby and looking for fellow reefers in town
  12. Very Carefully :P He will definately fit into either of those, then just drip acclimatation? also i heard that urchins are not supposed to be in contact with air, is that true?
  13. Was just wondering the best way to transport an urchin. he is currently in my biocube and I am passing him onto a larger tank. any ideas?or tips
  14. Hello fellow fishkeepers, My husband and I live in Lethbridge , we have 3 kids a handful of assorted creatures and we LOVE our fish. Currently we have a 90g community tank, 46g mbuna cichlid tank, 33g community,a 20g neon tank and a 10g planted guppy tank. We are also as one last addition going to be taking the plunge into a 14g nano reef. Already through all of the hours of marine books and online research I feel as though my freshwater community will dwindle to gradually make room for a bigger saltwater set up. but for now and at least the next while, we are going to attempt to build and sustain a beautiful little nano reef. I look forward to this wonderful and educational online community. I cannot wait to get our reef up and running:)
