  1. None of the tanks listed match my tank size? I've check out a few stores. The tanks is quite old, I would like a newer tank with thicker glass, but I really need to try to match the size as it fits my stand perfectly and don't want to reinvest in a new stand.
  2. I'm trying to replace my older tank, (the silicone is old, and I'm worried about it leaking) it is 36x12x18. I can't find anywhere that sells a tank this size. I have a canopy, and my stand fits it perfectly. Does anyone know where I could get a tank with these dimensions?
  3. Here is the exact details, Tank is 36" (91.4cm) x 12 1/4" (31.1cm). Glass is 1/4' (5mm) Thick It has plastic trim but no centre brace. In the middle of the long side the tank is bowing just under 3/8" or 8mm. I did read somewhere that glass could bow 2x the thickness, so I'm within that tolerance. It is just concerning as I never noticed it before, I think It might have had something to do with how I put the cover on when I changed the water that I noticed it.... Rick
  4. I have a 30 gal tank that has been up for about 10 months. I just noticed that it is bowing out about 3/8" in the middle. I've inspected the tank and all the seams seem fine. I assume that is a problem, but don't know. I change about 1/3 of the water today and the bowing did go down to about 1/4" when the water was lower. Should I be concerned? What about adding a centre brace? Rick
  5. Sorry for the type - yes it should have been the first two are at zero. I do the test before I do the water change, I checked my kit has not expired, I don't have plants, but I'm also not heavily stocked. I'll maybe take some water to Big Al's and see if their numbers jive with mine. Rick
  6. I've been measuring my water when I do my weekly/bi-weekly change and I'm wondering if my measuring kit is working properly. My fish are all doing great, looking healthy showing great colours so I don't think my water is a problem, but my last measurements showed zero ammonia, nitrites and nitrates. Thee first two being at 2 is good but is it possible to maintain and aquarium with no nitrates? Rick
  7. About 7 days ago I had a Red Minor Tetra that was being attacked by the others, removed "him" to another tank let his tail heal. While he as out the other tetra's were perfectly fine, I added much more plants and obsticles for hiding. I moved him back last night, they are all now attacking him again and eachother. He is different then the other 4, he has a smaller body and not as round, I wonder if he is a male, and the others are females, and if this is what is causing the problems? Any further tips on what to do next besides permanently rehoming him. What about another few fish...
  8. They are Otocinclus, the one is still alive I found it tonight. What about Celery? Thats All I have right now. Rick
  9. I have a 35 gal tank (4 red minor tetra's 5 guppies). Fully Cycled, Water Parameters - 0 Ammonia, 0 Nitrites, 10 Nitrates, 7.8 PH, Temp 26C. All my other fish are doing very well. 2 of my 3 algea eaters died in the last day, can't yet find the 3rd. Only change has been a new food that is small pellets rather then flakes. Rick
  10. 35 Gallon, I only have 6 guppies in tank right now as well.
  11. If have 4 Red Minor Tetra's they are all attacking a smaller one (I think it is a male), they have shredded it's tail. What do I do, I'm trying to remove the one to a quarantine tank to treat it's injured tail fine, what I can I do to stop the aggression? (Almost impossible to catch though to remove to another tank) Rick
  12. 35 Gal Tank 2 Filters Aquaclear 30 & 70 I've had my tank go for about 6 weeks, was not able to start the cycle until just 2 weeks ago as I could not find clear ammonia. I finally found some at Safeway, I started adding some every day until my Ammonia spiked at about 5 then a few days later my Nitrites starting rising until they hit 5. Shortly after my Nitrates hit around 10. Then the ammonia went quickly to zero. it seemed that the cycle was about to begin. Now: still no ammonia (I have not been adding anymore should I?) Nitrites still at 5 and not going down or up after 10 days Nitrates have dropped to below 5. PH Around 7.8 - 8.0 I've done several 10 and 20% water changes I've added some "Cycle" Do I need to add some more ammonia, and other ideas why the cycle has not continued? Rick
  13. Got the 300 Working, was just the impellor. So then my question is, which 2 of the 3 filters should I run on the 34 gallon tank? I will setup a 10 - 15 gal quarantine tank in the near future so I'll need one of the 3 for that tank. Rick
  14. I just received a 34 gal tank, it came with 3 filters, AquaClear 300, AquaClear 200, and an AquaClear 150. The 300 needs some repairs to the impellor/pump, so I'm wondering it it is better to run the 2 smaller filters or get the large one fixed and just run it?. I'm a bit of a newbie as I have not had fish for over 25 years, somewhat familiar with the chemical issues, but certainly more information is available now then when I first was in the hobby. Rick
